I have tried other fishing games but this by far is the best game we have played. The choices of lures, rods and line are great. You can win bigger and faster boats and even win gift card to use at the Bass Pro Shop not real ones of course.
Casting took some practice, but once you have the hand of it it is smooth sailing. The rod has some weight to it and it quite large in circumference. Holding it does not feel like you are holding a real rod, but the reel and tension vibrations are very realistic. Graphics are very realistic, even the shadows on the water. Overall great game but there is one feature that I wish I would of not found out about. Once you hook and set a fish, you can let go of the reel and the rod pulls it in all by itself without you making a "effort". That is kinda a bummer.
I purchased this as a gift for my husband. He has recently become more homebound due to illness and cannot be outside in the summer heat. He and my son played this last night for the first time - what a joy to see the smiles and hear the laughter! The graphics are amazing.
There are many lakes, lures, and fish to catch. The big surprise was the rod and reel feel, just like the real thing! This will be a favorite for my husband since outdoor fishing is no longer an option. Both my husband and I love to fish, but of course that's limited by winter.
This game is so much fun and really gives you the same rush as catching the big one. The kids love it too! It's easy enough for those of us that are not gamers to pick up and enjoy. My only complaint is that you can only play one player at a time. It's very difficult watching someone else fish and having to wait your turn. If they ever came out with a two player version I'd buy it in a heartbeat! It's a great couples game, I would even say a relationship booster.

I got this game because I have been missing being able to go out and fish, and I have wanted a fishing game for a while now. The game is a lot of fun, you can play in career mode, and also a quick fishing "arcade" style. The game has a ton of different lures, rods, reels, boats and lakes to choose from, which adds to the replay value.
Also, just driving around in the boat is really fun. The controller is well made, and stood up to my two year old beating it on the coffee table for a good 20 minutes. What I find really cool about the rod and reel controller is that it has a little motor in the reel, that activates when you hook a fish.
What this does is allow the player to feel the fight of the fish, it makes it harder to reel in the fish. That only bad thing I have to say about this game is that you can't get out of the boat and fish off of the banks of the lakes. Which considering the amount of content this game offers, isn't really a bad thing at all. One person found this helpful. Purchased this game with a big savings from getting at Best Buy or Walmart - game came fast and packaging was a little hurried i thought but still the game and fishing rod is a blast.
Took about an hour to figure out how to cast the thing - the instructions in the book are not too clear so would reccomend getting online and watching the tuturial that is availabe by video. Once you have the casting down it is a blast - i have never fished with a lure before and this is a good training tool for that purpose and when you do get a bite the rod feels just like a real rod with a fish fighting on the end..
Unfortunately this fishing rod is not Wireless. The wire is not that long and if you have small kids playing with this, the last thing you want is for them to pull a little harder and the whole thing will come tumbling down on you. I returned it for that reason. I don't even know if it's a good item. That's why I'm giving it 2 stars. Rapala Pro Bass has a wireless unit that I have purchased and am waiting for.
I get wrapped up with my job, not able to get off the property much. I have had the fishing bug for a while and saw this fishing game. I am glad I gave it a try. I really enjoy the fishing experience with the rod. The graphics are nice and the overall gameplay is fairly realistic and fun. You can feel the first hit and the fight of the fish.
