Excellent array of yarns and craft specialties.
Don't forget the discount for teaching staff. Great selection of art supplies, however there does seem to be a bit of price gouging with certain brands. If the price seems steep, Google it. Chances are it IS sold cheaper somewhere close by, unless it's something specific like copic markers, ect.. This Michael's seems a bit messy from time to time. Also they run out of product quickly because they are one of the busier ones. Less baking supplies than others Michaels, but I usually find what I need.
Staff is nice but it seems that most of time they do not know how to help. Maybe they should know more about their supplies. Great place to shop for art supplies. Went to purchase a easel. They carry multiple sizes at a competitive price. The selection of beads is always huge. I have found a few twice but I keep cking. None of the other craft stores carry them.
Please Michael's order more. I know you won't regret it. This store has the nicest helpers. This lady walked me around and helped me find all the stuff I needed. Love love going in here! Always so many neat things in so many different price ranges. Project levels in all age and ability levels also. Only thing missing is inspiration and a dream!
Normally very friendly staff, well organised store, lots of selection. The biggest issue would be their markups. I only go here if it's our last option. Do not shop without looking for coupons on their website first. PlanWithMichaels is today from pm! The store close to me filled up quick so I found this location and Im happy to get in! Me and my Happy Planner will be front and center! Store is organized, however understaffed However I did love the sale isle! The price difference is so much that it may be worth your money to drive to Plattsburgh.
My wife loves this store. I've even picked up a few things here. It has a huge selection of decorating and craft supplies. A great asset to have nearby. I walked in and had a very friendly woman approach me right away. She showed me where everything was, and had some good basic info on the differences between products.
She even offered me a coupon for when I check out.

Michaels is the best,I go there if I am having a depressing day. The store is great for anything like birthday parties, family get together's and if u just want to have fun.
Such a fun place to shop. Some things are a little pricey, but they usually have pretty good coupons. If you have no interest in crafts, you will give this place less stars. They don't have movies or golf or even aquarium animals at Michael's. They do have a lot of stuff for crafts. They even have airplane models and toys for those members of the party who like that aspect of crafts but not all aspects of crafts.
Great place to shop for odds and ends, frames, arts and crafts!! My girlfriend CAN'T get enough!! Great selection of art supplies. Always easy to find what I am looking for.
I like this Michaels because I can wander for 2 hours touching things and talking to my camera and no staff will talk to me. Enjoyed my shopping experience at Michaels. They had everything I was looking to purchase. It helps to have coupons!! The cashier was vey pleasant,. I do love their selection but their prices are ridiculous. Even with their coupons their art supplies are still more expensive than Curry's! Did some work here. Not a crafty guy, but big with lots of cool stuff. A large framed fat female employee kept following me around the store.
It was annoying and I won't be back. Pretty standard big box store. The staff is friendly but occasionally hard to find. I've rarely walked out of there empty handed. Nice store, helpful employees. Just make sure you look on their website for coupons. Very clean store with great employees.
It's fun to browse through all of the interesting craft items they have. I also did custom framing here and they did an excellent job. We buy canvases for our daughter who is 7 and loves to paint currently in art class at Art des rapides. Michaels have some great packs of canvases always on sale which is very convenient and also the amount of good quality acrylic paint. This is a great place as well for jewellery-making and look forward to register our daughters to their summer classes this year.
Customer service is wonderful and always helpful, the staff never disappoints and knows where everything is located. I get all my art framed at Michaels. The girls are so friendly and helpful. The helper was Lori, the Manager was Denise, and the help was Outstanding! My mission was to find 'battery clock 'innards'. Nothing similar was to be found, but Lori found the part with little effort, being the girl who has the answer or knows where to look.
Denise tells me Lori always out-performs. Michael's does not have a cash or other reward program for outstanding work. Lori will get 'a card'. Wow, that would light MY fire. Wrong answer buzzer sounds. Michael's will hear from me as well. Thank you, Lori, and Denise. Now to order the clock part. The only big craft store in town. Some items can be pricey but others are a great deal. If you want great quality, it's worth the extra cash. Great arts and crafts store! Prices are always reasonable. And the store was well stocked. The only issue is that it was quite messy.
Wide selection of craft supplies at slightly inflated prices. Be sure to grab a coupon from their flier or online - can be scanned of your phone. Staff if you can find someone is not particularly helpful. Lots of nice crafty stuff. Always a sale on something. Try a dollar store first since thia place can be pricey. Good selection of crafting and cake decorating supplies. I've always received such great help and advice for any questions I have had.
I come here very often. It's my go-to location. Its all about using the right coupon on the right day for the right item.. Staff is very friendly and willing to help, if you can find them. Store is clean and well taken care of.
Sometimes you find a few products in not the best shape but the staff is always friendly and the store is well stocked. It has just about everything I need to get ideas for my next project. Its perfect for kids and adults. They usually have a good variety of products but their prices are excessive. My last visit was very pleasant, had everything I was looking for and the cashier was super nice. You get what you pay for. Some things are reasonable. Bought paint there and it was dried in the bottle.
Phenomenal selection and quality merchandise carried by friendly helpful staff. Best customer service I've ever had at a Michael! Everyone was very polite and helpful. The staff here are super friendly and they had deals on everything I wanted! I love starting my crafts here. This place has improved markedly of the last few months. The store is a bit crowded with perhaps too many shelves, which leads to awkward gaps between some being impassable due to support poles. At times there are not enough cashiers and the lines can be long. Went to buy yarn but needed some expertise..
Was told 1 woman works mornings who knows but after 3 trips she was never there so guessed and hope my project turns out. I have a business.. Got all what was needed for my wife's Christmas Days and days of hard work Into what started out as an act of desperation to bring my wife back, and ended up becoming one of the most talked about, most precious family belongings. Michael's was the only place that carried every piece, and every tool to help replicate the exact design I've been creating, in my head, for months.
Thanks to Michael's, I was able to make what family and friends still refer to as the most romantic most thoughtful gift ever. If you're tired of Dimonds, try using Michael's beautifully unique products that come together to show your love in a way that neither words nor diamonds can This store has a friendly environment, the selection is great and the employees are knowledgeable. They are always getting new things and keep up-to-date in the popular projects. I can always ask the employees for ideas and advice too which makes the experience so much better!
Friendly staff and great selection. Prices are a little bit on the higher end. Great staff very helpful Helped me to decide on which Christmas tree to choose. Its good for quick art supplies, but watch the coupons, it always seems like they run sales so you can't use them. As a Daycare teacher I go there often and I always find beautiful stuff for my felt board stories. Not the biggest Michaels but the staff is great and make all the difference. They are very polite and go out of their way to help you. Store is always clean and tidy and well stocked.
Clearance section is good too. Sometimes have to drive to a different location for certain knitting needle sizes. Can be overpriced so always use their coupons.
They have kids crafts Saturday morning from Great selection of craft products. I especially love the holiday selections available in fall and winter. This store is relatively well-stocked and clean, and the staff are helpful. Prices tend to be average to just a bit higher than AC Moore. Disappointed that the selection of papercrafting supplies has been reduce over the last few years.
Overall, a good place to shop for craft supplies. Always has what i am looking for and if they don't they will find it at another store. Coupons help a lot. Good selection of crafting supplies and great customer service. The staff at the custom framing department are very knowledgeable and eager to help make your framing ideas come true. Exactly what you expect from a Michaels. Don't forget to bring your always reliable Michaels coupon.
My big issue with Michael's in general but especially this one, is assistance is hard to find. Everything was well stocked. I didn't particularly dislike the place, but it was a little inconvenient. My brother and I visited Michaels for some fabric which we couldn't find there, so we settled for some felt, but I digress and got It was hard to find things we were looking for and ended up touring the entire store several times.
I was constantly looking for a staff member to talk to that wasn't on cash, and only found 2 both of whom were busy with other customers. This is my favorite store to come to for3 anything that has to do with arts, crafts, and just about anything to do with creativity. The staff is very nice and helpful. I have come here multiple times and each of which any staff I asked for helped was able to help me. Lots of things on the shelves, prices are kinda high, but the manager there really isn't a good person.
I had asked her to get something from their back room since they only had a display unit up front. So I took her to the unit and showed her the exact one I wanted. So she took it out, I bought it and drive home. While I was unboxing the unit, I realized that it wasn't the unit I had picked out.
So before taking everything apart, I put everything back into place and took it back to her to exchange it since they were the same price. She told me I had broken the seal and it was considered used. But the thing was that there was never a seal on the box to begin with.
She said with no seal, they're losing out on money because it has to be sent back to the manufacturer. Why is that my problem when everything is pristine and I was given the wrong product? I haven't returned since Hobby Lobby opened up across the street.
Hard to find what you need. Not a lot of staff available to help. The store staff always help me find what I'm looking for and explain the process behind a lot of DIY activities. Thank you again and again. But the line up is always huge on the weekend. I'd visit this store every single day, if I had the money.
Trips here can easily get expensive, because you won't be able to stop yourself. Always find what I need here, whether it be small craft items to large canvases. I can always count on Michaels. Have to visit this place for great selection and service. The staff here are excellent.. And I could barely convince my wife to leave this place. Everything was her style here. The inventory is typically decent and varied. There have been a few occasions when entire sections of products have been empty hooks, however.
I've never been to any other store where one or two people ahead of you equals a "line". Michael's is a horrible overpriced mess. Pretty much everything here is way cheaper online. Great quality but insanely overpriced. Not for the thrifty DIYer. Staff are somewhat helpful although there are very few of them around and are hard to find when you need help. There are always sales or coupons, if you're going there without one of those you probably have a good chunk of disposable income. The staff there are humble folk, friendly and helpful but they never seem to know where things are so I guess 'allegedly helpful' is better suited.
Always have stock, neat kids toys and crafts, good selection of scrapbook gear. Very bad quality picture framing. The staff dont know there products now do they know what they are selling. Everything is by the computer and they say no and cant do half the features you ask for that any other frame shop offers.
How do they get away with charging those prices? I learned my lesson.. Dont be sucker there regular prices are inflated so youre never getting a deal even after there sales!! Its a good store but employees are extremely rude and disrespectful!! I called to ask if they had lockets and after a dreadful phonecall, I said thank you and she just hung up she didn't say your welcome, or anything at all, I hope you actually interview employees better next time!!
But when I applied for Unemployment benefits. They submitted a document that I quit. So I was short handed in the end. And I was left without a job or income. NO job security, harrassment, no promotion, no career advancement. Pay was exceptionally low. Part time staff receive no benefits which is not unusual. There are some raises, usually in Aug which disappear when the new minimum wage kicks in so experienced staff might get a few pennies more than a new hire who walks in the door knowing absolutely nothing about the business.
Apparently Michael's doesn't care about retaining hard working, knowledgeable staff based upon their unwillingness to bump wages for current staff. Sadly, other retail establishments will gladly pay more for someone with experience so the good employees find new employment elsewhere, leaving Michael's with wet behind the ears staff.
I feel bad for the Customers who are left to bear the consequences of inexperienced staff Decent place to work, needs better management. Generally the work is pretty simple and you deal with the regular trials of working retail. The biggest issues I had were the disorganization of management.
The store manager was always frazzled and overly intimidating. She often got people's schedules and availability mixed. The assistant managers were more helpful. There also needs to be more training. It was my first time working retail and on my first day I was left at the register alone and didn't know about half of what I needed to do. The general atmosphere between coworkers is pretty good. Everyone is generally very nice and tries to get things going smoothly. People who worked there longer were happy to help me knowing that training is practically non-existent.
If only the pay was worth it. I loved working at Michaels, the customers, the fellow employees, and most of the managers were very nice. I had to quit because I was driving a good distance to get there but they refused to raise my pay at all. I waited a year for the year review and was expecting to go from 8. I put in my two weeks notice that day and everyone was so sad to see me go and was told by most of the staff that I was the best worker they ever had there.
I did a bit of everything in the store and I loved doing everything, it was just hard to stay when half my paycheck was spent of gas alone. Unique and fun environment. Challenging on behalf of the products for arts and crafts- having to suggest a different method of creating a project or suggesting different materials, giving opinions on products. Unique on behalf of having different experiences everyday due to new products, new placements for products, new customers, workers, and delegating it all is a unique and humbling experience.
Definitely fun when trying out new products to ensure to have a well rounded and honest opinion about a product for a creative guest. Only good as a temp job. This job definately is NOT a store that you should stay and try to move up in, mostly because there is no moving up. Pay raises each year is less than 18 cents. Also hours are inconsistent, you could go from working 4 or 5 days a week to only 2 days. Through out the year the store is always understaffed so the stress makes it a no go. Only time you can make decent pay at this job is during seasonal, besides that they do not have much to offer and you do not recieve really any OT.
This job will only be a good temp way to earn money and experience. A nice first job. Expectations for most positions in the store are pretty realistic. Holidays black friday-Christmas are VERY high volume, so be prepared to really be putting in work during those times. Otherwise, Michaels generally seems to look out for their employees and all of my experience with management has been relatively positive.
My store was very growth-oriented if you worked for it and made your longterm goals clear. Be ready to see a lot of older ladies and also parents doing their kids school projects. Good company with a lot of potential, and benefits. Only lacks high class supervision and respect for employes.
During my time at Michaels,I was always pleased with the pay and benefits. Causing better employees who work hard to work harder or getting in trouble for others mistakes That always seemed to cause frustration between employees, and make harder workers not work as hard. All in all the work was fairly easy but things were made more difficult due to management and other employees slack. A good company to work for as a Part-Time Assistant.
