A thick slice of eel was dense but not tough and doused with a salty eel sauce. A ball of scallop had more meat than I expected and didn't need gobs of ginger, wasabi or soy to give it flavor. Served in a tiny, translucent blue saucer that approximated an oyster shell, it was sweet and slippery with a hint of citrus. Standard hibachi-style entrees, noodles and sushi executed well.
Basic beer and wines with choice cocktails. Inviting and kind, but like every other Japanese steakhouse you've ever been to. A bit tacky in parts, but appropriate enough for the setting. A reflection of your teppanyaki chef, which can still be entertaining even if you've seen the act before.
Crabmeat, avocado and spiced salmon wrapped around crisp balls of cream cheese that had been battered and fried like tempura. Served on a long leaf, each cut was about one quarter the height of the chopsticks. The seafood tastes a bit lost in the fried cheese; it was far closer to a deep-fried snack than traditional sushi, though still good enough to recommend for an appetizer.
Samurai has the requisite bottles of Kirin in the cooler but not much else better than average for wine and beer. An assortment of fruit-heavy cocktails looked appealing, though my companion didn't order one after they were out of the first two she asked for. A table of four next to us perplexingly berated a manager for nearly 10 minutes because the restaurant would not accept their expired coupon.
The guests' argument was that even though the coupon was no longer valid, the restaurant should accept it because the hostess had looked at the coupon when they came in and failed to tell them it was expired. The manager, exceedingly pleasant and reasonable given the circumstances, agreed to give them the discount anyway. By Bryan Fitzgerald Updated 9: Hibachi it is, from now until eternity! I got the shrimp just like she did, and I have to say that was cooked perfectly as well — super flavorful and still juicy.
And sadly, my lobster was a bit overcooked and chewy as well. If you happen to order something that comes out a little dry, rest assured, they have two sauces that they give with it that are to die for so all is not lost. I just tend to order my meat and seafood erring on the side of undercooked not only because I walk on the wild side but just because I like to really get the flavor of the meat.
The next part bothered me a bit. Everything was going swimmingly until we were done with our meals. The couple next to us, the regulars; they got really great, fast, prompt service. Sorry friends. So after waiting for that, when the waitress finally came around, she seemed a bit bothered that I had bothered her, kept interrupting me while I was ordering, and then ended up bringing out the wrong dessert.
I politely asked her to bring out fried ice cream instead of just regular ice cream, and she seemed a bit put out to have to change it. When the Fried Ice Cream was finally ready, the waitress who I thought hated me, was suddenly extremely polite and gracious. Which, I choose to interpret as her having had a few moments of negativity followed by a change in attitude, nothing else. The Fried Ice Cream itself was pretty good, but we all agreed that we liked the cheesecake better. And from that point on, the service was stellar.
One thing is for sure after visiting this restaurant and sitting at the Hibachi table for the first time: Quick Summary: Entertaining, clean, warm atmosphere with a menu offering prepared in a fun, Hibachi way. The service left a bit to be desired at one point and some of the items were a bit overdone, but the other positives really made up for that. Very disappointed and won't be ordering from there again. It was very fast and the food tasted the same as I tried in the restaurant. They just misunderstood a dish format but was the same ingredients. The Sushi and appeitizers were really good.

They made me walk half way across campus because they claimed they could deliver to my dorm however there are two access roads to my dorm and dorm is an exterior dorm so delivery man would have been able to knock on my door without having to worry about trying to get in the building.
