There was a problem filtering reviews right now. I received these for Christmas to replace my cheap non-stick set. After my husband ordered them, I read some reviews and saw that the recent reviews were not great. There were many complaints about staining, sticking, warping, and other things. I was worried that the recent production was not up to par with the set that was receiving all the rave reviews from When I got my set, the first thing I did was to read the use and care guide from start to finish, and I was relieved to see that all of the most common "issues" with this set had been addressed.

If your food is sticking and burning, you are using too high a heat. I have found that all of the tips are spot on, and I have had no problems removing spots or apparent staining from cooking something like pasta. Vinegar I have found that hand washing and drying works better to take off stains and give the cookware a nice shine rather than using the dishwasher. In my opinion, negative reviews on this product are from people who do not understand that this is stainless steel cookware, and you will constantly need to adjust your old cooking preconceptions, because everything about stainless is different.

This is a high caliber cookware set, and I recommend it. I was wary of ordering this set because So, I upgraded from non stick to this stainless steel. Obviously it is not professional grade pots and pans but it seems very sturdy. I was wary of ordering this set because of some of the negative reviews but ended up deciding to purchase anyways.

Right away I noticed that some of the reviews were correct in that: You need make sure you don't use your normal high temp settings because this pan super heats!

So go lower than you usually would. Follow the manual for cleaning to help with stuck on stuff haven't really had any major issues I did notice that one of my pots seems to have an issue with the seal from the bottom add on. Steam comes out of that seam. Will talk to cuisinart about this. I haven't noticed this in any of the others. Over all, the pan is good, just getting use to the new temperature since I was so used to using my old pans- but this is worth the price for sure.

Cuisinart MCP-12N Multiclad Pro Stainless Steel 12-Piece Cookware Set

I would have purchased this all over again! Especially because I'm in such a tight budget and couldn't afford those dream high end pots and pans. Don't waste your money on inferior stainless steel. You definitely get what you pay for. I am a busy mom with young children so I rarely take time to review a product, but I feel so strongly about this that I am doing so today.

We purchased this set in November , along with the 12" covered skillet. I am not a professional chef, just a mom who cooks regularly for her family, but I was disgusted to find that after a year and a half of use, the pans began to fleck: I never overheated them or used any abrasive cleaners or scratchers, and I only ever hand-washed them though the manufacturer says they are dishwasher safe. This is more than just discoloration that occurs with stainless when you don't use Bar Keepers Friend. There are little teeny tiny pits all over the cooking surface revealing a dark inner layer.

That screams major health hazard to me what metal is now being exposed?

I contacted Cuisinart, and they did mail me replacements shipping at my expense. I was hopeful that our initial pans were simply a product fluke. Here we are another year later, and the replacements are starting to fleck. I called Cuisinart today, and they will mail me more, but no product refund. Don't waste your time unless you don't mind going through the hassle yearly of emailing them pictures of the flaking pans and waiting for the new ones to arrive.

In our tests, the All-Clad pans heated evenly, were comfortable to hold, and tackled every cooking job without any hiccups. For advice on what to look for in a good cookware set, I interviewed restaurant and cookware professionals, including Candy Argondizza, at that time the vice president of culinary and pastry arts at International Culinary Center ; Janet Crandall, a private chef and cooking instructor in Los Angeles; and Penny Rosema, executive vice president of the Cookware Manufacturers Association.

I also spoke with several home cooks, including members of our own staff, who have used cookware sets for years. Finally, I searched for highly rated models on Amazon. As a staff writer at Wirecutter, I have written reviews for all kinds of kitchen equipment and gadgets, including skillets , knife sets , and cutting boards. And prior to joining Wirecutter, I spent over 10 years working in various facets of the food and restaurant industry. Buying a set of cookware is a convenient and affordable alternative to tracking down pots and pans one piece at a time.

Cookware sets also make great gifts for weddings and graduations, or for anyone setting up their kitchen for the first time.

Or maybe you have a set of nonstick cookware. Nonstick cookware, on the other hand, needs to be replaced every few years once the coating deteriorates. Stainless steel is more versatile than nonstick cookware because you can cook over higher heat without damaging the pan, which is critical for getting a good sear on meats.

Stainless steel pans will give your food a rich color and develop better fond the caramelized bits that form on the bottom of a pan , resulting in more flavorful food. Stainless steel is also great for high-heat tasks like stir-frying and pan-frying. Many cooks love that it can go directly from the stovetop to the broiler. Though cookware costs more when sold separately, purchasing it this way allows you to acquire specific pieces that suit your exact cooking needs see our guides to the best skillet , cast iron skillet , nonstick pan , saucepan , roasting pan , and Dutch oven.

Because cookware is the cornerstone of any kitchen, we wanted to find sets that included the most useful pot and pan sizes. We also looked for sets that could retain and distribute heat well to allow you to cook without fear of hot spots. Though most people are inclined to buy sets because doing so is cheaper than buying pieces individually, sets involve a compromise.

Most manufacturers cut corners by including smaller pot and pan sizes in a set to reduce the overall price. But smaller pan sizes require you to cook in batches and can slow you down in the kitchen. I like to pick and choose what I want. It might be a little more expensive this way, but space is a commodity in my tiny kitchen, so I choose what I need wisely. Both Argondizza and Crandall gave suggestions for the best pot and pan sizes to look for. A good set should include the following 10 pieces:. That said, we found that most skillets in sets are only 8 to 10 inches, though we prefer and inch versions because they offer a larger surface area for cooking more at once.

Many sets also have stockpots that are only 6 quarts, which is too small for making large batches of stock 8-quart or larger stockpots are best for preparing stocks and provide ample room for boiling pasta. You can always purchase other essential pieces, such as a Dutch oven , a cast iron skillet , and a nonstick pan , in addition to your main set.

Most of the pots and pans in those larger sets are just filler. The ideal weight and balance of cookware will be different for everyone. We took the advice of our pros and looked at many cookware sets in person before testing, to get a feel for the weight and the actual size of the pots and pans.

Getting a sense of each set just by looking at pictures online is difficult. Additionally, we limited our search to cookware with sloped sides. Ideally, we wanted sets of fully clad tri-ply stainless steel, which has an aluminum core sandwiched between layers of stainless steel extending up the sides of the pan.

Fully clad tri-ply stainless steel is the best option for both pros and home cooks because of its even heat distribution aluminum heats up quickly and distributes heat well; steel is very durable and holds heat nicely. And unlike nonstick cookware, you can use stainless steel pans over high heat and move them directly from the stovetop to the oven. Good-quality stainless steel pans are buy-it-for-life items.

And we looked at how well each set nested for convenient storage. Cuisinart knows their way around the kitchen, and have included everything you need to Michael Hession We simmered large batches of tomato sauce in the stockpots to test for scorching. Pure aluminum encapsulated base heats quickly and spreads heat evenly. Turn on 1-Click ordering for this browser.

In addition to making tri-ply cookware, most high-end manufacturers produce sets that are made from five or more layers of stainless steel, aluminum, and sometimes copper. With each additional layer, the pans become more expensive. That said, the pans in this set took longer to heat up than those in the All-Clad set. Fully clad tri-ply cookware is the way to go. We excluded sets with glass lids because they can break or crack easily if dropped.

Pot and pan lids should fit well but somewhat loosely, with just enough wiggle room to allow steam to escape. We dismissed sets with plastic handles, because even those made to withstand high temperatures can deteriorate over time. Ideally, we wanted cookware that could safely withstand oven temperatures of at least degrees Fahrenheit, which ruled out most plastic components.

Several members of our staff have also seen plastic handles crack after spending time in the dishwasher. Stick handles that provide an easy grip and a comfortable angle allow you to quickly move saucepans around the stovetop one-handed, so we dismissed sets with small or medium saucepans that have two side handles. We also looked for sets that included a hole for hanging on each handle. Side handles are best for larger saucepans those over 4 quarts and stockpots, which have a bigger volume and require two hands to lift.

Many sets include a pasta insert or steamer basket for stockpots, but these pieces are superfluous. Cookware manufacturers often sell variations of the same cookware set to different retailers. They do this primarily to avoid competition among big-box stores, such as Target and Walmart, that sell similar items. For instance, one store may sell a set of cookware with a saucepan that has a stick handle, and another store might sell the same set with a saucepan that has two side handles.

If you want to avoid the hassle of searching multiple retailers for these variations in an attempt to find the most useful set, take heart: We tested the best version of each cookware set we could find across multiple retailers. For each set, we started by testing how well the large skillets retained heat by making a heat map of their cooking surface using an infrared thermometer.
