Seems to have gone downhill from previous visits. Great food and service. Will definitely be back! Servers were very attentive. We had an opentable reservation for 9 people. When we got there there was confusion over where we were going to sit. It took about 25 minutes to get settled even though there were plenty of space available. We moved from one side of restaurant to another with no one knowing what to do with us. It just set the tone that way, with kids getting hungry, the service not not quite up to par but ambiance and food were great.
My food came out way after everyone else's and it was served cavatelli with broccoli rabe with no sauce nothing. I questioned the waitress and she said when you order special that's the way it comes. Made no sense, I told her you should have told me that. She brought me out some goat cheese to sprinkle on the top.
My husband wanted the special Osso Bucco and they ran out. It was only 7 o'clock He ordered a bolognese sauce for a side order of pasta and it was basically greasy chop meat sauce. Usually bolognese has veal or pork in it. The other 2 people ordered a different pasta dish and salmon dish.
Theirs were good, so they said lol. Our appetizers were a hot antipasti. The rollatini was horrible. The baked clams were average. The waitress did try to make good by giving us after dinner drinks on the house. The place was packed and I just don't get why.
I hate to give bad reviews, so it's incredibly rare that I do so. Unfortunately, Umbertos of New Hyde Park was an enormous disappointment! Many years ago, the food was so good. This past Saturday night, it was horrible! My son's pasta dish with seafood was tough and fishy tasting. I had a very flavorless chicken parmigiana with gritty pasta.
Baked clams were soggy and also flavorless. Cesar salad was soaked in dressing. Our waiter, though very nice, was not around and never checked up on us. The manager, though he offered us a free dessert which we declined, never once spoke to us or even looked at us! It was really an awful meal and I would never go back! It seems to have lost its luster since dining there years ago. I returned with higher expectations.
The service was good, the food The food was great. Typical Italian fare for the area.
We were stuck in traffic while going out east. Found Umbertos and we were so glad we did! The calamari and meatballs were excellent. Had eggplant for dinner. My husband had sausage and broccoli rabe. Both were delicious Left full and with plenty of good food to eat the next day.
There's a reason Umberto's has been one of the most beloved pizzerias and Italian restaurants on Long Island for more than half a century. It was the perfect choice for a final dinner with visiting relatives on the evening before they left town. After considering a few good options closer to home here in Queens, we all quickly agreed on Umberto's when suggested, and it was worth every bit of the tominute drive. After sharing part of a delicious Margherita pizza with leftover slices to take home - yum!
Service was friendly, helpful and efficient as ever. Umberto's is a local treasure. Charming and roomy with pleasant decor.
Waiters were friendly and accommodating. I enjoyed the veal, and the meatballs were excellent as well. Food was excellent as usual. Made reservations and were seated promptly. Giuseppe was welcoming as always. One thing about Umbertos, food is consistently excellent. Keep the good work.
Hearty, good Italian food, with volume enough for tomorrow's lunch, at a very good price. Wait staff was kind and attentive. Great service and hospitality combined with fabulous recipes of Italian favorites. Sicilian slice pizza is the best anywhere. It was a meal and service we will remember for a long time and compare any new restaurant too in the future. Umberto's is the all time champ for pizza - especially Granma's and icilian style.
Big crispy slices that you fold and drip the orange oil on the plate. Was back in NY and went this weekend. Pizza was way smaller and not crisp. We were so disappointed. It did still have good flavor though. The food is delicious! Never have I ever been dissatisfied: I can't brag enough about this Umberto's! The food is always amazing and the establishment is extremely well managed. I'll be ordering again, as good as the food is the management is better Ordered for delivery an Italian anti pasto salad with provolone, prosciutto, salami, fresh mozzarella and olives. Received a sandwich with provolone, salami, tomatoes and ham.
We work across the road from Umbertos and order from here all the time. The food is fresh the pizza is amazing and they also do a great catering spread. The people that work there are always friendly and greet you with a smile. Pat always accommodates whatever we need. Was expecting more from "the best pizza on Long Island. First it took forever for them to deliver the pizza.
Second the pizza was cold when we finally received them. And lastly the pizza was burnt.

Might have to try the original location in NHP as I heard great things about the original location. But I certainly won't go back to the Huntington one. I've never been there but heard they have excellent pizza. As you can see I ordered two slices and one was a decent size but the second one was minuscule in comparison.
Now let's rate the pizza. Dough- slightly undercooked, tasty but limp and a bit flimsy Sauce- tasty, slightly zesty but not fabulous or memorable Mozzarella cheese- excellent quality with a slight snap and buttery finish Overall impression- a bit underwhelmed We've recently had our 9 years old daughter Oceans surprise party there. At first, we were told by the staff that they could only accommodate us up to certain point. Staff told us no but of course the owner Pat say yes.
Pat was a very nice person and this is his father business and pass it down to him. Well, pat is young and attentive. Food were great and we highly recommend this restaurant. Thank you Pat for making our daughter birthday amazing.
We will always remember what u did for us. My fav pizza is the Sicilian square. Usually no wait to sit either Delicious pizza!!
I come for lunch with my GF on the weekends, the pizza is always hot and ready. I get the Buffalo slice which is spicy, but worth it. GF gets 2 slices of their marinara which she loves. Service is friendly and outstanding! We have also had catering from here as well, and it's a big hit! Their variety of catered food is exceptional, Penne a la vodka, chicken Parm, chicken francese, the meatballs, eggplant Parm, all delicious! My husband, son, and I stopped here 2 days ago for a quick bite when they were just about to close.
Even thought it was late and the pizza they had was probably somewhat old, it still tasted great. I has a margherita slice, which had a bit too much cheese for my taste, but the tomato sauce made up for it. My son enjoyed a cicilian slice and he loved it.
The staff was very friendly and welcoming even though it was the end of the shift. I would recommend more of a variety of soft drinks though. The food was great, service delightful, so I will definitely come back to this place when I'm in town. Solid place to drop in and grab a slice before hitting up the Paramount. Margarita, buffalo chicken and Sicilian slices are outstanding. Grab a Peroni, have a bite on one of their high tops and get on your way quickly.
Staff is friendly too. Although the pizza was great the eggplant parm was inedible. Ordered in from work. I'll be ordering again, as good as the food is the management is better. Dough- slightly undercooked, tasty but limp and a bit flimsy Sauce- tasty, slightly zesty but not fabulous or memorable Mozzarella cheese- excellent quality with a slight snap and buttery finish Overall impression- a bit underwhelmed.
