The item works great as a music player, which it should. I also need it to run an app, that is not available for my Android phone. I put a couple more apps on it, just for convenience. It is rather slow at opening and running the apps. Battery life could be a little better, but it's not terrible.
Overall, I am satisfied with the product. As readers may know, the iPod Touch is an "iPhone without the Phone," in other words, it's identical to the iPhone with all its features except the phone.
Being retired, I'm not on the phone all that much, and refuse to pay for phone contracts I use pay-as-you-go. So, the iPod Touch is an amazing little device with phenomenal capability and built-in goodies too numerous to mention, e. I love the "Clocks" app free , not to be confused with "Clock," and use its big illuminated clock on my night table when I'm traveling.
This is downright exciting technology. I'm no tecchie and although there's a learning curve to these devices, especially if you're older like me, it's worth one's time and patience. My old one could point the camera away from me and back to me and it seems to have a hard time updating it's software. I called my internet company to have the lines checked to make sure it was not on my end but they are fine.
Everthing else about it is great. It is light, easy to use, still takes good photo shots, uploads to facebook etc well and connects to my wifi as easy as my older model did. I am mostly going to use it for keeping track of my health walk or run, and ways I am taking care of my health so it will be great for that. I love apple products, aside from owning this ipod touch I also own an ipod classic. I use the ipod for music, books, news, games, record keeping, etc. There's so many things I can do with it.
Some things I don't like about the ipod are the design and updates. I liked the old design where the length to height ratio was more balanced; I don't like how the current model seems stretched out.
I also don't like how apple doesn't support the newest updates on previous models; I have to buy the newest model to get the newest updates. I actually preferred the previous ipod touch model but had to switch to this one because I could no longer upgrade my favorite apps. This is a great little media device. I wanted one so I could Watched Streamed Videos and be able to listen on Bluetooch headphones as I have people in my home that are sleeping when I want to watch.
I have always used an Apple TV but no way to use the bluetooth headphones. This Gem let's me me do everything and more.
It was easy after some research to remove the broken tip. There was a little damage to the inside of the port so I had to build a holder to keep a small amount of pressure on the lighting cable to keep it charging.
