The 'managers' reception in the evening is really of little value, expecially when you compare with other Hilton outlets such as Homewood Suites. The breakfast is good value at the Keg location. Nice view of the falls from the Keg on the 9th Floor. Good bus shuttle service from the Hotel to downtown Niagara Falls, Canada. Average would describe this hotel. It's very touristy - i. The rooms are ok with great views but not up to date i. It was very busy when we stayed here - you had to line up for breakfast - which was average to say the least compared with many other hotels I have stayed with in north america.
You will also get charged extra for everything. Room upgrades are probably worth it but not much else. Good room sizes. Excellent view! Elevators and breakfast very slow- Overall poor flow and long waiting. You wait for ever!!!!! This is one of the most difficult reviews I have ever had to write. Normally after staying at a hotel, I immediately know the rating I'm going to give it and my overall impression of my stay; whether positive or negative. In the case of our family stay at the Embassy from March which in Canada is referred to as March Break for school aged children , there seemed to be as many positives as negatives at the Embassy which made my overall impression quite mixed.
I also have to temper my review knowing that it was an extremely busy week for the hotel staff and my first experience travelling during March Break. All that being said, let me start by saying that the package deal we got was very good. When we arrived it was quite busy at the entrance with the valet staff doing their best to park all the vehicles coming in. We were warmly greeted by a valet who explained the valet parking: We chose the latter.
We then used a bellhop to help with our luggage. He was super friendly and waited patiently with our bags while we checked in. There was ample staff handling all the incoming guests trying to check in so the line-up went quickly. We had a slight problem at check in as we were staying with our friends and wanted a room adjoining them or at least on the same floor and requested that when we booked. This is because the rooms are given out on a first come first serve basis regardless of what you request at time of booking.
That was quite frustrating and was very disappointing. We declined and took the room we originally booked but we were several floors away from our friends. The bellhop escorted us to our room and placed our luggage where we asked. He was giving us helpful advice about the hotel all the while and answering all our questions. We tipped him well and thanked him. The room itself was clean and spacious but unfortunately reeked of smoke. We should have changed rooms immediately, but because we had an early dinner reservation and wasted so much time at the front desk we did not have time.
We found out later that we were on a smoking floor! We could not believe that they still had smoking in this hotel. If we had known this we probably would not have stayed at this hotel so we tried to make the best of it. We called the front desk to complain of the odour and they brought up an air ionizer for the room and the cleaning staff used a spray for the smell.
Neither made much difference. If we had to do it over again, we would have asked to change rooms. The Embassy claims that all rooms have a view of the Falls. This is somewhat misleading as our room only had a partial view if we looked to the left outside our window. Directly in front of our window was another building which was the most prominent view outside our window. We had dinner at TGIF the first night.
The food was good, but the prices were even more than I expected for a tourist area hotel. The kids enjoyed their meal as well. Breakfast buffet was very busy the first two mornings but even busier on the third and final morning on Thursday. Massive lineup that did seem to move pretty fast. The buffet itself was the same every morning with the usual scrambled eggs, bacon, French toast sticks, pancakes, assorted breads and muffins, and a very busy made to order omelet station. I never braved the omelet line- up there were three but our friends did and they said the omelet was good.
The buffet definitely could use more variety and the staff needs to keep it replenished more often. The food was often cold or items had run out. We had dinner at the Keg the second night which is also located in the hotel. We waited an interminably long time to get our steaks and once mine arrived it was not done right. I ordered it medium-well but it came charred on the outside and pink on the inside. I asked the server to take it back, which she did without hesitation and a sincere apology.
Ten minutes later another steak came and it was not much better than the first. I again compained to the server and she profusely apologized and just took the steak away and left the side dishes. I was quite hungry by this point and getting full just eating the potatoes and veggies which were very good. I thanked him and ate the steak.
It was very good, but by then I was pretty much full from eating bits of the other two steaks and parts of two potatoes! Clearly then I have mixed opinions of this experience. One thing is certain, I will not return to the Keg. The pool was a big attraction for the kids.

It was 3 feet deep the entire length of the pool. Perfect for kids. It also featured two good sized hot tubs. Unfortunately the shower only had cold water so most people did not wash before going in. The water was quite dirty and one time my son and I were in a hurry and did not bother to shower after a long swim.
Several days later when I returned home I developed a strange rash on my legs and arms. As my title suggests, the staff at the Embassy is excellent. From the valet, bellhops, check in staff, housekeeping staff, et all, everyone was very friendly and helpful. Despite the busy season, the staff always took the time to answer your questions and fulfill your requests; all with a smile on their face.
They clearly enjoyed their jobs. The guests on the other hand, seemed for the most part rude and impatient. I am not going to judge people based on their nationality or race. However, it seemed that certain members of our vast immigrant population here in Canada, may not be aware of the social norms here in North America when it comes to proper behaviour in social circumstances like a hotel setting. My overall impression of the hotel is that it is a decent hotel with a great staff, in a popular tourist destination that has very few great hotels.

Free Wifi. Fitness center. Breakfast included. Certificate of Excellence. Make sure you are aware of all of your charges. I thought they made a mistake in my bill so I paid the bill and ran thinking I got a real deal. But upon inspection of the receipt when I got home I discovered these were additional charges on top of the Wag Jag cost of the deal. If I had known ahead of time that these charges would be tacked on then I would not have been so surprised when I check my bill when we got home. It was still a great deal compared to other hotels in the Falls and I would return to this location now that I know there are even additional cost that are added.
Remember with the Wag Jag there is an additional room charge, parking, taxes, TIF charge, everyone charges that and maybe an Echo charge. I guess Wag Jag or not you pay for the parking etc. So now you are aware of the additional cost in my situation but the location is so central to everything that makes it all worthwhile. Pay a little more but get so much more. Say Hi to Mark, the valet, when you arrive he will make your stay for you. We bought a Deal Find deal for this hotel which included food and attraction vouchers.
The hotel was nice and clean. I agreed and the room was super large. We had so much room which was good with 2 kids with us. The hotel offered a local shuttle to the restaurants and casinos in the area which we took advantaged of to take us to The Keg. The only down fall was check-in was really busy. There was a huge line to check in at 4: Otherwise, great hotel for a good price.
Just returned from a weekend at the Falls. I had purchased a travel zoo voucher that was for 2 nights Friday-Saturday which was an excellent price, and included some coupons for attractions and dinning. Check in - there was a long line at the front desk, we waited at least 25 min to check in, but the process was quick, friendly and efficient. I was extremely happy with this. The Room - basic and clean.
No luxury's here, it was spacious and well appointed but basic. The bed was surprisingly comfortable. The maid service was fine, no complaints. My only real complaint was how noisy it is there, the walls are so thin you could hear everything in the hallway and beyond. The Hotel - looked run down and even had carpeted hall ways, which was extremely dated.
The hotel is in such a great location, they need to fix it up or rip it down and rebuild. The parking - never had any problems finding a spot to park. Paid The Pool - was basic and cold. The hot tub was strange - the jets pointed upwards which made for a terrible splashing effect that would soak your hair and face. Very strange. Not enjoyable or relaxing. All in all I had no major complaints and would return for the right price.
I was not there to sit or party in a hotel room, but to enjoy the falls, shopping and wine country. I would recommend the hotel for a budget traveler or family. If you want a great view and small luxury's stay somewhere else. Good Afternoon Trish, Thank you for recommending our hotel for families.
I am so glad to hear that you were accommodated with a voucher that you would use and that the guest service agents were friendly and efficient. We do have promotions constantly running so I hope that we do see you again in the future! This hotel was disappointing, very noisy, rooms I are not well cleaned or maintained. We went on a Friday afternoon, it took 25 minutes to check in.
We wouldn't stay there again, I contemplated moving into a different hotel and we had a suite. I'm not sure what the regular rate room would have been like. Good Afternoon Sandra, I am so sorry to hear that your stay with us was disappointing.
March break is a very noisy time and we do try to control it as much as possible, I apologize if it was an inconvenience. I hope that you enjoyed your time in Niagara. My husband and I, along with another couple stayed on February 8. When we chose to park in the back lot to try to save money we were met with an extremely hazardous parking lot that hadn't been salted in at least a few days, as the lot was a total sheet of ice. When we informed the worker at the desk he assured us he would get someone to salt it, but when we came out in the morning it hadn't been touched.
Lucky for them none of us fell. The rooms were big and clean. Good Afternoon Mel, I am sorry to hear that you had difficulties with your parking lot. I would like to assure you that we salt our complete lot 3 times daily when there are hazardous weather conditions. I apologize if this was a stress to you at all while you were with us.
Check In There was a long line up to check in which I believe is unreasonable considering guests have to make reservations in advance. The website indicates pets are allowed for a fee. If the hotel does not want to accommodate dogs then they should say so instead of overcharging customers whenever they get the opportunity.
Parking When we checked in we were asked what parking option we would like: Unfortunately if you leave the hotel at night with your car you are not able to find a parking space. Twice we had to park at the front of the hotel in Lot A in a spot that was not a designated parking spot when you return. There is no difference in a parking spot in Lot A or B as they are both outdoors and you have to self park for both.
I feel that if a guest is required to pay an additional fee to park the hotel should take care to ensure the lot has ample parking and that it is cleared of snow when necessary. It had snowed in the early morning of February 16 and the parking lot was still snow covered and slippery. We had to climb over snow in order to get from our car to our room.
Check Out Again very long line up to check out which was possibly due to the fact that the check out staff called housekeeping to check the rooms ensure the room was left in good order. We are frequent travellers to the Niagara area however will never stay at the Best Western again. This experience of price gouging has left a bad taste that I now associate with the Best Western name.
Four out of the five hotels I mentioned above are pet friendly and I have never had the experience I just had. I have attached some information about parking and pets from their website as well as some other guest reviews. I wanted to share my feedback in the hopes of rectifying this situation and saving future travellers the aggravation this experience caused me.
