Now milks gets in the tube every time I use it. I called Medela and they asked me how I cleaned the parts and I said "with a soft sponge". The lady almost yelled at me saying I should only use my fingers to clean the valve and membrane and to soak it in lukewarm water. I told her the manual says to use a dish cloth or a soft brush I had it in front of me She said: The lady was borderline rude and repeated 3 times I needed to sit up straight and not run around with the pump I told her 2 times I was sitting straight. Having a newborn to worry about is already something I'll never buy anything from them again.

This was worth its weight in gold! Initially I pumped up a small supply in the freezer, then I just pumped to replace what was given when I was away. Occasionally I also had low supply in the evenings and this was great to give him some freezer milk and pump to encourage more milk after he went to bed.

My only regret is that I wish I had this sooner, it would have helped with the engorgement and oversupply I dealt with in the first 6 weeks post-partum. I hand expressed so that baby could get a latch, but this would have been easier. I had heard such amazing things about this brand. I have been using this pump for a month and loving it. Went to pump this morning and doesn't work. Tried everything to reclean and reassemble using guide and looking online for troubleshooting with zero success.
Would have expected longer then a month. My suggestion: I used this pump a dozen times, then found a manual pump the Haakaa breast pump that worked just as well and was far easier to use and clean.
This pump did the trick, it is not very loud and is simple compared to other electric pumps. It is small and easy to assemble. If you are considering an electric pump then I would recommend it, but if you can get away with a manual pump, chose the Haakaa. The product is decent for someone who doesn't need to pump all of the time. I need to pump after feeding during the day for top ups - any more than that I would definitely have chosen a pump that has open line system this one is a closed system , and one with two flanges so I could pump both sides at once.
The biggest problem is that you have to sit upright or else, but because it has a closed system, the line can fill with milk and get in the motor. That was my first experience - and the instructions do not tell you you have to keep it perfectly upright!!! It was pretty frustrating.

I was trying to pump at the same time as I fed baby, and milk got everywhere. I found an Austrian Medela YouTube video that had much better cleaning instructions than the paper manual - definitely watch that. If the pump seems to stop, it might be because there is condensation in the line. Just swing it around than the centrifugal force will let the water out. But for my purposes, it seems to be good so far.
