Such bafflers come from hours of work and practice and a past working as an actor, stand-up comic and card player. Much of his living these days is researching the companies that hire him and writing a script in which his tricks illustrate the company favorably. That and constant practice, to keep the skills sharp.
There is no wasted motion in a magic act, says Pipia. He's been married twice, and both wives have been his assistants on stage, being levitated and cut in twos or threes.
