These are his first pieces that incorporate fire. The metal structures are based on the geometric shapes referred to as the platonic solids, in which all sides and angles are equal. The piece comprises different parts to create a whole. Both pieces were ideas he was exploring before he knew about the Fire and Ice Festival, however Mechtly found that they both fit perfectly with the festival's theme.
