Roux parliament square deals

Warm welcome, lovely cocktail on arrival, professional staff and delicious light lunch. Cannot fault this most wonderful lunch experience. Excellent lunch to celebrate husbands 75th Birthday. The service and care that we were given was outstanding. Valentine was especially attentive and made us feel relaxed and welcome.

The food was out of this world and the chef Steve created an impromptu happy birthday dish to make the evening extra special. Thank you to you all.

I went when it first opened in , when it was an edible cure for insomnia. It's located inside the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, just off the square and, appropriately, I came out in love with the front elevation.

There was nothing else to celebrate. It was a study in dull: Given that I'm a big fan of Michel Roux Jr, sticking the boot into one of his restaurants was not fun.

This was death's waiting room with gutter-to-gutter shagpile. And then last year, a new head chef was appointed: Steve Groves, winner of MasterChef: The Professionals in Who can blame Roux Jr for using the show to find talent? It all merges into one eventually. And his food didn't look at all dull. It looked colourful and bright.

It looked like MasterChef. I decided to go back. There was a temptation to narrate the food to myself as I ate, in Michel's voice, that seismic weapon which seems to start rumbling around his knees, firing off booming sentences like the thump of a timpani: There is whipped butter and fine sourdough bread. This is enlightened classicism, a clear display of gastronomic literacy. The kitchen has read old recipes and knows how to turn them to the light.

A single sweetbread is caramelised and served with a pile of sticky onions, crisp Alsace bacon, and a jus that is long-simmered essence of baby cow. Goose, rarely seen on menus, arrives looking like duck's grown-up sibling, the thick breast crisp-skinned and served pink, and with a jus that tastes of the bird.

Roux at Parliament Square in London – creative cuisine in a fashionable setting. Make reservations online. Michel Roux Jr's 2nd London restaurant and bar in Westminster offers fine dining in a spectacular location.

Roast partridge with "haggis, neeps and tatties" reads rustic, but is something altogether more refined, the haggis arriving in light rissoles. We had a relaxing lunch in a great environment. We were given a virgin experience voucher for light tasting menu and 2 cocktails, the food was divine; it was like being in the Masterchef kitchen , wonderful plates of gorgeous food kept appearing. The staff were very efficient but not intrusive and nothing was too much trouble; we will certainly return and definitely recommend to friends.

Had a lovely time at Roux at Parliament Square. The restaurant was pretty quiet for a Friday but I expect that's due to the location. It does mean that you can hear a lot of the other guests conversations.

Roux at Parliament Square, London

The wine was excellent and the food was very good! There were so many extra mini courses which were a lovely touch. Interestingly, service is not included in the bill, as standard. The food was exceptional and the staff made you feel very comfortable.

Will definitely be visiting again very soon. Good food, not amazing but good, at the right level for the restaurant. Wine list focused on brand names rather than good QPR - decent if you spend 3 digits. Service was somewhat slow and a bit brusk when it arrived.

Cheese with wine flight was fun. Very nice tasting menu with good wines paired.

Attentive staff, delightful surroundings and food to die for! I could not have asked for anything more! The Roux name is well known for fine dining and of course the main restaurant La Gavroche is a 2 star michelin - but this second restaurant on Parliament square is a delight. We had the tasting menu and it was fantastic - lots of interesting dishes with great flavour combinations. We don't drink but I noticed that the wine list looked comprehensive, if a little expensive.

We had a lovely evening and the staff and ambience were wonderful. A lovely meal, unrushed with lovely wine pairings. We all had the tasting menu, beautiful food. A great choice for client lunches and quiet meetings. Our overall experience was disappointing. We sat for a while before being given menus and were not asked if we would like an aperitif.

When our glasses of champagne came the champagne was not cold enough. After our entree I wanted a glass of red wine and asked our waitress which wine she would recommend. She said she would get the sommelier for me. I asked again and he came over rather grumpily. I asked him which wine he would recommend and he swiftly told me but did not explain why or go through any options.

The wine was then poured but I was not offered to taste it first. The overall morale of the staff seemed low. I would not go back again. My husband and I visited for dinner and were pleasantly surprised. The setting was lovely, the food delicious, with attentive staff who made us feel welcome without being OTT. Definitely plan to visit again on next visit to London. Superb food and service and very reasonable lunch menu. A place to return to time and time again. Very good flavours, presentation and attention to detail.

The cooking was spot on. Portions are not generous but over 3 courses we were left sufficiently full. Bread is high quality and the butter and caramelized onion spread delicious. Service is efficient but lacked any engagement or warmth. Desserts delicious and perfectly executed. Wine list over priced but some decent bottles around the 50 quid mark. Fair value for quality.
