They were lazy and handed everything to the new people who still had no idea how to really do anything. The manager was great though she made everything so easy to understand and helped out with everything even if it wasn't her job. Very laid back, its a great place when you have school still. A lot of employees are very respectful and helping, everyone jokes around with one another.
A family owned business, started in Dallas TX in Dickey's was a fun place to work and my employees were amazing. You do have to be willing to give up weekends and a bit of free time if you want a management position. Great product, something you can stand behind and adjust accordingly. I could have very well in the end been making more for the amount of work I was putting in.
I trained several people and put over 2, miles on my vehicle after leaving the North Spokane location only to see that location fall due to poor management and lack of communication between the owner and district manager with that location, with their general manager and staff. There was no productive communication with the North Location. So I chose to leave the Idaho location and not return to the Spokane location for several reasons. Including the fact that the store in general had very many internal issues with mold, and repairs that had been marked on their bad inspection upon my leaving.
Otherwise, I do greatly love and appreciated the communication I did have with the owner and district manager, and given the free ability to do what I thought was best to run the stores better and more efficiently, as well as exceeding cleanliness. I had free range to learn things on my own as well as being taught more along the way. I wish I could have stayed with them for a lot longer but no issues were being resolved, including the fact that I needed to return to Spokane knowing the North Location would be ran properly.
The food, a good product to stand behind. The flexibility within the company to do, and grow. Lack of communication, proceeding into employees quitting. Lack of care for the effort and work put in as a gm, with included travel. Absolutely love this company.
Fun fast paced environment. Friendly staff and enjoyable management. Catering crew was a blast and owner was very hands on. Would definitely return to work here if given the opportunity. In our down time we cleaned.
During our busy time there were catering, online orders. It could get a bit crazy. Great with good owners.
Most Dickeys are franchises, if the franchise has a good proactive owner then I would recommend working at dickeys. Fast paced environment. Though it is not the worst place I had worked, a typical day at Dickey's entailed constant orders that needed to be delivered to customers, and heavy lifting of inventory several times a day.
I learned about multitasking skills and gained a better sense of delivering top-notch customer service. The hardest part of the job were the long hours employees had to work, late into the night time hours. The most enjoyable part of the job were the customers and my fellow employees. Horrible Environment. Most weeks I worked 10 hours or less. The store is dirty, and most workers cannot effectively work together. The workplace had too much drama.
Horrible place to work.
Overloaded with work. You're expected to do the job of at least two people at once.
Needs more people, but that costs too much, so they push the few they have to do the workload of what should be double. The manager I had was a wonderful person, but most of the other employees were horrible. Offering little help and wanting you to do more of the work. It's a job in food service. Like any job in food service, if there is not good management then the job is not going to be fun.
Had a lot of issues being the "new" guy that did not sit well with me. Ownership in the area is great but it is still a job in food service.
