It took the G3 just 15 seconds to open the resource intensive game "N. Oddly, it took the G3 6 minutes and 10 seconds to complete our VidTrim test, which involves transcoding a MB, p video clip to p.
That's faster than the smartphone category average of 7: The G3 performed similarly on various synthetic benchmarks, creaming the category average, but falling behind the One M8 and S5. On the Geekbench 3 test, which measures a smartphone's multicore CPU performance, the G3 scored 2, The Galaxy S5 scored 2, That spanks the category average of 12,, but doesn't quite measure up to the Galaxy S5's 18, The One M8 performed even better, hitting 20, One of the G3's killer features is its new camera.
What makes it so special? Well, to quote Dr. Evil, it's got a "frickin' laser.
And it works surprisingly well. During testing, the G3 was able to focus on a stationary object milliseconds faster than the HTC One M8 and milliseconds faster than the S5. That's not a huge advantage, but if you're shooting pictures of your kid's soccer game and want a cool action shot, the laser focus might be the difference between a blurry and a crisp image. In addition to its laser, the G3's camera features a new Magic Focus mode pictured above that lets you adjust an image's focal point after you've shot it.
But whereas the One M8 lets you tap on the screen to choose the area you want to focus on, and the S5 lets you choose between the background and foreground, the G3 uses a slider that blurs the background or foreground to your liking. What makes Magic Focus problematic is the fact that you can only move the slider a certain amount until your photo is either totally blurred or sharp. Photos taken with the G3's megapixel rear camera looked crisp and colorful. An image of a flower offered sharp details in the petals near our point of focus, and fairly neutral colors.
A shot taken with the Galaxy S5 had deeper reds and brighter greens, though it also exaggerated blues. Pictures of a flower pot near a busy street offered similar results, with the G3's photos offering the most even coloring, the S5's looking a bit too blue and the One M8's image appearing muddy. Videos taken with the G3 were just as beautiful as the handset's photos. Colors were clean and natural looking, and details were sharp. A video taken with the G3 while walking down the street had a lot of movement.
The Samsung's clip looked much more stable. Although LG brags about the G3's long battery life, other handsets offer much longer endurance. That's a half hour short of the smartphone category average of 7: The Galaxy S5 and One M8 lasted more than 2 hours longer, at 9: The carrier encumbered the G3 with nine apps: That's not to say some of them aren't useful. We could do without the other options. With the G3, it's clear that LG is trying to step out of Samsung's shadow, and to a degree it does.
The G3's design is sexier, and its interface is a big step up from previous iterations. We also really like the sharp and fast MP laser focus camera and Smart Keyboard feature. Unfortunately, the G3 falls short in both the display and battery life departments, two areas where this phone is supposed to shine. Overall, we prefer the Galaxy S5 because of its richer display and longer endurance. The screen and resolution looks amazing, my only complaint with this phone is the speaker. Terrible spot for it in the back and isn't too loud.
But the buttons on the back took no time to get used to and I actually like it better than on the sides. Phone is fast, responsive and does everything I need it to do. I have an Iphone 6plus and am unhappy with Apple's take on how to do a phone. I can't access the battery which has a planned end of life cycle, and on the contrary, my LG G3 has a user replaceable battery and besides it's 32gb internal memory, I've added a gb memory card which neither can be done with an apple phone. They make good products, take one step forward and two to three backwards.
Android phones are way easier to buy and their operating system just works. My apple mail crashes almost everyday but gmail never crashes and I should stick to why I purchased my LG G3, I had the LG G2 which I gave to my wife who swore she would never use anything but her standard, non smart flip phone, now I could not pry it from her hands unless she was dead and her hands were cold.
My LG G3 made apple stop using their famous slogan, "retina display" which means nothing but implies that the display has something to do with eyesight, but LG pixel density climbs to pixels per inch and the famous retina display can be just over pixels per inch, no contest, hooray, apple retina display is dead, long live LG for killing retina. LG has arguably a better camera and bettere software and certainly is a far better value on every level.
I could have gotten the LG G4 or G5 or v10 but the G2 and G3 offer best battery life, I could go on and on, but it's late and I am just being silly , but check it out for yourself. I don't own an apple watch because I am not an idiot, I am not an Apple fan boy , Although all my computers are apple, I am tempted to go straight linux which is what apple is based on. Great phone. I have only had LG phones and really like them.
This phone was fast, had huge storage, and the battery last a long time for a smartphone. It was easy to use and learn. I had to get another LG phone because I use pre-paid carriers and my carrier was getting knocked off the towers by the owner of the tower. It had not been dropped, exposed to water, or junked up with Facebook crap--the problem was mechanical, and it had to do with their shoddy "refurbish". The company said "so sad for you, we will not help you in any way". When you buy refurbished, I understand there is a certain amount of risk involved.
What shocked me, though, was that I had owned the phone for such a short period of time before the mechanical glitches rendered the phone useless. What shocked me even more was the company's cavalier attitude in offering no customer service at all. If you want to spend up to hundreds of dollars on a product that the company will not stand behind whatsoever--be my guest; but I don't have a lot of money to throw around and the poor response I received from this company's customer service department was so depressing.
They took my money, gave me a defective product, and when I complained, laughed in my face. It's not even close.
The LG has a nice and simple UI, less bloatware, no annoying home button, an RGB multicolored LED for notifications, 32Gb of internal memory, and the T-Mobile version already has an unlocked bootloader which means the Verizon version most likely will as well in the future. In my opinion, hands down this phone is better than the S5. The 13Mp camera is just as good as the 16Mp and the picture quality is excellent. The lack of novelty features like a fingerprint sensor or a heart rate monitor don't bother me at all because I probably wouldn't use them anyway.
There is no water resistance like the S5, but there is a much bigger and better HD display than the S5, and for me I'll take the better display because I don't feel the need to go swimming with my electronics on me. Both the S5 and G3 have simple one-click root apps available.
Using Stumproot check the xda sites for the app took about 5 minutes to root. Install Xposed framework, G3 tweaks from the play store, and any other modules your heart desires and you can customize pretty much anything. It's a great phone. You won't be disappointed.
Replaceable battery? Micro SD card? Awesome camera? Easy to root? Insane speed? This phone has it all. LG is the only major manufacturer to get all the points on my cell phone score card. I've had this phone since and its still running like a champ. The replaceable battery is a must. I travel a lot and having 2 fully charged backup batteries I can swap in has been a lifesaver on every trip.
Taking pictures and video all day, uploading them to the cloud automatically, streaming music through the headphones, using GPS so I don't get lost, reading news on the subway I can tear through a battery in no time. I don't know how people survive with a sealed phone. Honestly, I will only replace this phone when it dies or when tech has sufficiently advanced far enough so I can embed the phone directly in my body and access it with thought alone, like a muscle.
Cheers to you LG for not being idiots. This replacement did not work, and it was the second replacement that I ordered from Amazon because the first replacement from Amazon was not even the correct item. I spent 2 hours at the Verizon store with this replacement, and they concluded it had a hardware issue. It couldn't contact the network, the airplane button wouldn't work, and other.
Upon close inspection, this replacement phone had inspection stickers inside the phone that leads me to conclude that this phone was refurbished, NOT NEW, contrary to the claims on Amazon. Huge Regrets. White Size: Bought the LG G3, immediately had issues. I contacted the seller for return, they told me it was the battery. Sent me a new battery instead, phone still does not work. It randomly shuts off. I was actually in the city using the GPS on the phone and it does and wouldn't turn back on with a full battery. I have 2 kids and we have one income so purchasing a new phone was an extravagant thing and I'm just disappointed.
