Elk Creek offered us rooms in the main lodge instead, but it just wasn't as kid friendly, so we used our wine tasting and left in the morning instead. The general manager was extremely rude with my wife - that alone is good enough reason to never go back. The wine was OK, but very pricey for the quality. The grounds are beautiful, and we saw deer in the clearings. The tour was interesting, especially the wine cave.
There are better things to see and do in Kentucky, too bad the tasting room at Elk Creek isn't near any of them. We came to Elk Creek through a Groupon for a two night stay. I'm reviewing the three aspects of this experience separately This review, as the title indicates, is for the winery. There are two basic types available The tastings are done at the wine bar and include five 1 oz. The flights also consist of 5 pours but are 2 oz.
We chose to each pick one flight and share the first day and did the same with the remaining two flights the second day to be able to sample wines on all four flights. We all have our preferences for different types and flavors of wine but it is hard to believe that anyone would not really enjoy many of the wines available at Elk Creek.
The staff is extremely friendly, helpful and accommodating. We participated in one of the tours of the winery and found it to be very interesting and informative. While Elk Creek's pricing isn't bargain basement, it does seem to be fairly priced for the quality.
All-in-all, I would highly recommend experiencing the wine tasting and tour but was very thankful that we combined this visit with the lodging reviewed separately over two days. Flights Vacation Rentals Restaurants Things to do. Cart 0.
