Great fast service Pros: Easy in, easy out. Very friendly service, and very fast. Good customer service Cons: Parking space was too tight. Roomy enough for 2 adults and 3 small kids and their booster seats. When I was picking up the car the desk clerk explained to me the issue of a full tank of gas vs. Which is fine but then the paperwork she gave me charged me for a full tank when returned. I returned with a full tank so there should not have been a charge.
If I had not noticed the charge when I dropped off I would have been charged as such. So don't let the clerk write up paperwork as such. They said they had no car for me, even though my booking was confirmed and showed on their computer Cons: Do not book hertz. If you book online it would be wise to call and confirm they have a vehicle. The website will let you book regardless of inventory. Stay away from La Jolla CA location. I didn't even take the rental it wasnt even located in this country Cons: When someone asks for a certain destination make sure they wont need a passport to be able to pick up the car I will never use Kayak again because of this transaction. The reservation cost we get in kayak was a lot more that the web cost Cons: I were rental so many times by internet, but in this ocation the cost, was exceed very much high compared with the cost we saw in the web.
But we rent 2 diferent vehicles in 2 diferent rentals brands and it was the same. The cost was increased in both cases, even more than dlls wich is a lot for a "missunderstanding", but wen you were already in the place to pick up your vehicle, in high season, with all your family incluiding little childs you don't have so many options, but only pay I will going to check my next reservation with Kayak with a lot much detail and with a lot more of screenshots, but this was an excess for anybody and for any reason But now, we don't feel happy about that and was no a good experience Called the night before saying they had no cars, put us in a panic.
Then they called back saying they had one for us. Price, ease of booking Cons: Add showed a shuttle service. Actual site was not at airport, closed at 7. Good price, good location Cons: Staff not overly helpful and when I was on the phone sorting the insurance interrupted me more than once when I asked them to give me a minute as I was trying to speak to the insurance company. Had to drive from SD to SF and the car gave us no problems. Elaine at San Diego Hertz office at Airport was truly amazing. Explained options and all my questions clearly and professionally and politely Cons: Hertz upgraded at no charge because they didn't have the economy car I selected.
Past receipts were left in the glove compartment and papers in the trunk, it wasn't bad, just noticeable. The process was fast picking up the rental and dropping it off. The people were nice and professional. There is a lot of traffic from the car wash patron's cars. Lot of scratches and surface damage to car. Check in at San Diego was easy and fast Cons: Check in at LAX was long and uncomfortable. The car itself, the dinamic fact that i could chose any other car that was in the lot after i couldn't find the reserved one, cleanliness and the quick drop-off was great! The specific car wasn't there, and is never there at car rentals. I have never had a car rental occasion when I got the car that I reserved on the website. It's so disappointing even if it's not important. There was only one person at one counter to serve us and there was a line with 10 people at midnight, so we had to wait quite a while.
I opened the trunk to load it to go home and I found a dirty lid to a plastic container. The car was terrific. Blind side camera protection. Nice adaptable IPhone technology screen for navigation and music. The San Diego office needs more attendants. I had a reservation but was in line for 45 minutes.
Fred while dropping off the car in SD was awesome. Took in all the feedback I gave him about the issues I saw with the car.
He said thank you and sorry. Helped to make sure I didn't forget anything in the car. Super helpful and answered all my questions. Overall every company has it's ups and downs. I base all my feedback on customer service and product. You are lucky nothing happened on my trip due to that safety issue. I didn't rent in San Diego. I rented in Palm Springs and dropped it off in San Diego. Really liked being able to pick out the car! Easy to extend a day. Great value and service. Easy and fast service. No free upgrades this time, but still professional and not painful.
I also love how all the rental places are together. My final price was over double what Kayak estimated. Will not be using this service to book again. Use GPS on your phone to find your way back because it is not easy. If you want to refill the tank you have to fill the tank in a 10 minute radius of the rental car center. Suuuuper easy getting the car and dropping it off. Good selection of cars to choose from. Car was in beautiful condition. The staff at the counter were all really friendly. Agent at San Diego airport said toll costs would only be incurred on days used - we only used it once in all 8 days - come to drop the car off and told that the fees are for all days of rental regardless of use.
Wouldn't be using thrifty again - and unhappy agent lied to us. Airport shuttle immediately available. Very little, priced according to the service and vehicle I received. Everything from having the vehicle type I selected, to speed of checkout, had to return to airport to get correct vehicle for my trip necessities. Vehicle was dirty, although it had been run through the wash. Very friendly, great customer service and rep explained everything we would recieve with the rental. After having to return the cars 3 different times due to oil leaks and flat tires - we have decided to never use Advantage again.
Worst rental place ever Cons: Zero interest in customer. Never again with Advantage. Not what we paid for Cons: When we got to the desk to pick up our car we were informed that our economy was ready. We paid for a convertible. I informed the man behind the desk that we had paid for a convertible and he ignored us all they had were two economy cars left. I asked for a price adjustment since we were not getting the car we paid for. Only to be told that they could not make any refunds. He then directed me to call a number.
When I reached someone they had no idea what I was talking about nor showed any reservations for us. Over all not the best experience after landing and all you want to do is get to the hotel. We were put into an economy car then had to drive all the way back the next day to swap it out.

I liked the KIA Soul alot. Car had a bunch of scratches and dents, but i really liked that they had all these identified when i picked up the car and didn't have to go back to have these noted. Was charged for gas even tjough i returned it full!! Advantage in San Diego Cons: We rented a car online using Kayak from Advantage Car rental. We selected the pay during car pickup option. When we arrived airport we learned that Advantage did not honor our car reservation and they were out of cars.
We would not recommend using Advantage and now we are weary of Kayak as well. Car had mechanical issues, brakes squealed like a banshee, mechanical light came on. Not a big deal. What bothered me the most was the drop off. Seemed like it went well, knew my name from scanning the car in, said receipt would be emailed to me. Never asked about receipt for gas Able to resolve it, but it should never have happened in the first place.
Car was clean, and felt newish, customer service was great. I think the car had a smoker in the back seat and could be smelled.
They didn't honor the insurance that I was offered and prepaid for, so I'm out seventy two dollars on that. Radio didn't work in car. I arrived 20 minutes prior to the official start time of my rental and the counter person said the car wasn't ready.
He then attempted to upsell me on a more expensive rental which he said was "available immediately". When I returned the car, price was higher than quoted on the website. There was an additional tax and the staff said that usually the cost is more than the estimate. We felt that the company deliberately underestimates the cost to get customers and we will not use Payless again. The agent I dealt with at the counter was as flexible as he could be with me within the local policies.
A lot more honestly and upfrontness about extra fees. Staffs are very friendly. Unexpected airport fee was added during check out.

Later that fee was credited. Deposit still on hold even after car returned 4 days ago. Had him cancel and go back. We had a flat tire on the freeway and had insurance. After 55 minutes with their Road Side Assistance, they were unable to send us any help. We ended up calling and received help later through a truck driver.
I have never been treated so rudely by any other company. They tried to force me to buy their insurance even though I already have two other policies that cover rental cars. I was supposed to get a midsize car toyota corolla. Don't con me into upgrading to a 'luxury suv' then have no luxury sub's available.
Car was excellent the mid size suvs is what always works for me. Line was long in San Diego for rental paperwork. When I finally got to the counter the agent handled things very well. Took 25 minutes just to get to the counter. Great value for the money. Your staff is overworked. There were 2 agents for a lineup of 20 people. They were very nice, and not their fault, it was so slow.
The drop-off was flawless. Quick effective drop off! Stood in line for about twenty minutes waiting for one attendant to help 15 people? After that then two employees came in to assist and the line sped up! Waited for over 2 hours for our pick-up. There were only 8 people in line ahead of us when we got there 1 person working. When it was finally our turn, the employee spent half the time trying to up-sell us. More staff working to facilitate a quicker pickup.
Drop off was easy. The pick up took us 1hr 15 min. The line were too long with only one person helping most of the time. Car was in good condition and the drop-off was good. Staff were surly, slow and unhelpful.
