I went to an SG because the scale is shifted to the player's left with that axe. Well, now weight is becoming an issue. Parkers don't work for me either. The cheapy Spirit version wood, not composit. I don't care what they look like, it's the shape and weight that is my interest.
It looks like they would be as easy as a Flying V or Dean ML to play when standing and they're pretty darned light as well. Scale is shifted as far to the left as you want to push the guitar. I know they use oddball strings and such. I'll deal with it. That said, are they salvagable?
Tone wise, I mean. And can they be made to play ok? They're all maple body, neck, et al and are neck-thru designs.

I just wanted something I could bring regardless of the transport or accommodations flying, driving, hotels, camping, whatever. So while that type of guitar is a long way from my style for normal use, I did find it one of the better solutions for something to bring while on vacation. In so doing, I did learn quite a bit about the guitar.
The first thing you notice is it doesn't go out of tune, ever! The Steinberger system really works as advertised in that regard. I've never, in over 45 years of playing, experienced that kind of tuning stability. The build quality was actually fine.
In fact, it played better out of the box than many expensive US-made guitars. Since it was only for practice, I didn't bother changing any of the electronics, which were serviceable if uninspiring. The only real problem I had was the neck was just a little too small for me. If you're used to a slim neck with a nut width on the narrow side, it should be no problem. I didn't use the trem much, but it worked just fine.
I'd say if you like the ergonomics, it'd be hard to go far wrong for the price. Dec 7, 3. I have an old Hohner SB copy. I used the guitar mostly to ride the El train to band practice early 90s, but still have it and occasionally bring it to open jams or travel with it. I blocked the trem because it just didn't work all that well.
I think you can still get adaptors so that you can use regular strings- at least I used to see them on eBay.
The double ball end strings do make changes and tuning quick, though sometimes they don't quite fit. Playing it does take a little getting used to and it hangs a little face forward.

I'd go with the CV, used if you can find one, rather than the Ursa. Thanks Thumper Yeah and a point she made that really makes a lot of sense is that she knows she likes the CV but not sure about the SX and the only way to really know is to buy it It's hard to argue with her and I know she really favors the color and I cant really blame her it is gorgeous.
