We stayed in the premium lodge, quite nice, but surprised after staying at other holiday parks it doesn't come with toilet roll, towels etc. Also the quilts were just too small and the bed didn't have a mattress protector to protect us from who ever has been their before.
Would I stay again? Yes I suppose so, but next time I think I would travel by train and get a hotel in the centre. Didn't use the facilities for entertainment as didn't travel with kids and also didn't fancy bingo!!! Lovely site with great park and complex. Caravan of a very high standard with free upgrade to a 3 bedroom haven caravan. Lots of activities for kids. We have stayed numerous times over the years at many Haven sites.
Though are children are grown up now we still use the sites as a safe base to stay as we travel with our eldest son who has a learning disability. After a warm welcome from reception staff we found our caravan at the back of the site in the Gleneagles area. First impressions were not good rubbish around the caravan and around that part of Gleneagles. The caravans were tightly packed and the caravan we were placed in was small.
The main bedroom was tiny you could hardly walk around the bed. The caravan inside looked clean inside on arrival but it did feel grubby if you know what I mean. I think it's hit or miss when you take a pet and I feel that sometimes they keep the worst old caravans for dog owners. We did not step foot into the fun works entertainment complex and the passes remained in my purse unused. We ventured out each day walking into Port Seton and Cockenzie used the coop at Port Seton for food shopping. We drove out to Edinburgh, Leith and we went over the Forth road bridge to Kirkcaldy; we explored the beautiful Fife coastline with stunning views over the Firth of Forth and we could see Cockenzie power station in the distance near to where we were staying.
We did use the onsite fish and chip shop once buying only one bag of chips which my son did say were nice. We did walk each day around the activity trail at the rear of the site which was a very nice walk with our dog. We left a day early and on returning the keys to reception there was no one around so we just put the keys into the key return box.
I have mixed feelings about this place as I know if I had allocated a better caravan in a better part of the site it would be a better stay and a totally different review. Beach over the road and 5 min drive to port seton. Stayed at 7 gullane. Near golf course and walks for collie. Whats not to like? Shop a little pricey but your paying for convenience. Benes chippy nice too. Notable changes: The old terrace Bar is now revamped as in it has new furniture, it is larger, with a long bar with a view to the kitchen. The arcade is much smaller with a lot of machines removed.
The show bar has been painted white The rest in generally the same. During my week stay, I frequented the actual complex once to see the place in full action, and one thing I did appreciate is the fact that they had many members of staff I am not sure if it was the time of year but the place was an absolute ghost town, and the entertainment was a million miles away from what it used to offer The game show was poor and the Entertainment team were messing about on stage barely sticking to the show.
So I didn't go back in, and should I have paid extra for passes to the complex, lets just say I would have been strongly disappointed! The caravan on the other hand was fine, only two issues was the water pressure in the shower kept dropping, so you were in and out like a yo-yo trying to clean yourself, and the seagulls in the morning! First off, they are the size of Jack Russell's with wings and they start landing on your caravan from around Maybe park security could do a rolling sweep of the park with a deterrent to reduce the numbers.
But then I am not a wildlife expert so I don't even know if that is possible! So more a nature issue than a park issue. The main issue I had was my time in the complex and the obvious watching of me by security.

I am 6"1, stocky build and have a shaved head because I am losing it! If they wanted to see where I went to where I settle, not a problem, but they just watched me as I attempted to watch the entertainment But one security member was quite off putting for other reasons. Whilst in the show bar, his routine was to lean against a machine and text on his phone, walk the room chewing on a straw, and approaching every table where single or multiple women were sitting to chat them up. He appeared arrogant, cocky and a sleaze, not exactly professional.
The other guys just need a lesson in subtly, but at least they appeared to do their job. In closing, Seton Sands is great as a base if you intend to do things in Edinburgh or surrounding areas. Just becareful if you are a bloke of my look and size as you will be stereotyped! TripAdvisor uses cookies to improve your site experience.
