I used a 3 on my face, and a 5 on the rest of my body. The 3 was enough for my face since there are a lot of sensitive areas there. My personal recommendation, if you use it on your face, go with a lower zap and wear eye protection. And don't go above the cheek bone or use it on your eyebrow area. About my only complaint is that the system is kind of bulky. But that is all. It turned on just fine for me, and was easy to put back in the package for storage. Are the Cartridges bad? I am sure it is a cartridge to cartridge issue, but my original one lasted me through 2. I had to put a new one in to finish up my leg on my last use, but I am pretty sure I got flashes or so out of it. I do recommend keeping a spare one though, because like any technology you might get a bad one here or there. Does it hurt? I use to pluck facial hair, and it hurt me plenty good, and even on a 3, this system was still kind of rough.
But that is ME. My skin is sensitive, especially on my face and neck, so I expected this. Just keep a realistic outlook when you use it, and if it hurts, lower the level. On the rest of my body, the only place it make me jump a bit was the backs of my legs, and that was at a level 5.

I do not have to be as exact with shaving as I use to be, and I can definitely go longer without shaving. Now I can go a couple days with no problem. These are not even my full results. It will be another month or two to get through the full hair cycle, plus other hairs coming INTO cycle will start growing as well. So I won't see a true result for at least another month. This is a process It takes time, and patience, but I am already seeing results that I am pleased with.
Shave as close as possible. Most of the pain and heat I dealt with was where I got sloppy with my shaving. The closer, the better. Use cocoa butter, or lotion on the areas you zap. I didn't experience irritation or dryness, but I was pretty quick to lotion up. It just makes sense to me to lotion after IPLing. Set aside time to do this. It would take me around an hour to do all the parts I wanted to hit-- which isn't much time, but I needed to sit down and kind of yoga through some parts.
It helped to know that I could sit on the floor, take my time, and make sure I got all the areas I wanted without interruption. Be patient. I know it is frustrating, and I know how badly people want results especially in the face area but if you over-do it, you can harm yourself. Just give the system a chance to work the way it is supposed to. That is all I have for now. I hope this review helps.

Mens razors are where it's at. My favorite for about the last two years is the Men's Bic Flex5 - very close, comfortable shave on my legs and my legs will still be mostly smooth the next day. If I don't get goosebumps, because then my leg hair just grows back instantly. I decided to use this product because I'm just sick of my leg hair being such a nuisance.
I decided that even if it only made the hair thinner or less noticeable, it would help me. A lot of times my legs get irritated from shaving so much. I know it won't make my leg hair stop growing completely, forever, but it will help it not be so thick and so much. The product says that some hairs may never grow back.
I have used this 4 times so far - the 4th was today. The cartridge lasted for 3 thorough passes of my lower legs and bikini area my upper legs grow blonde for some reason so I'm not wasting the cartridge on them, they're not a nuisance. I have already noticed my leg hair is growing back slower, thinner, and less. So has my husband, actually, so I'm thrilled. My bikini area is no longer red and bumpy because thick hairs aren't poking through and irritating my skin - that hair is VERY noticeably growing in less, and I'm so happy about that.

The ugly black hair follicles on my legs are shrinking and my legs are starting to look like I imagine a normal woman's legs look like. I'm pretty happy so far.
