Response from Cody Reviewed this property. The train from Fairbanks to Anchorage is only 12 hrs.. So no hotels but there is a hotel within walking distance to Anchorage depot. Ship Creek Inn Choice. Planning a southbound cruise from Seward to Vancouver in July or August Want to arrive 4 or 5 days early for outdoors activities before embarking on the ship.
Definitely want to avoid super touristy areas. Would love to see Denali, but from what I've read the park itself sounds a lot like Yosemite or Yellowstone, in which case we could skip it. From their web site, it looks like different fare rates now, extra for the vistadome. Anyone know the score? I am not sure if that is considered the Alaska Railraod, but I think it is.
