The Dreamliner was comfortable and the window tinting technology is super cool. The bag fee is expensive. You have to pay for everything. Any type of food or drink. You even have to pay for the entertainment. You get what you pay for. Their online baggage fees could not be purchased with either my Mastercard or Visa.
Had to resort to Paypal for baggage payment. Flight was also over an hour late departing from Cairns. Crew said that was due to an ;onboard medical emergency' on the inbound flight. Flight was comfortable and we were well looked after by the crew. Several meals and beverage services throughout the flight. For a low fare airline, this was a comfortable, on time flight. Good entertainment selection and decent food.
We were well looked after by the cabin crew. They came through many times with food and beverage services as well as water. Seats were comfortable enough and there was plenty of room for our carry on luggage. Boarding was on the tarmac and a little chilly but very orderly.
Seats are crumpy every small item must be paid separately, crew is clueless, If I can avoid it I will never fly Jetstar again. Previous review is for Sydney to yulara. Flight from Christchurch to Sydney was very smooth and no problems at all. It was something like this: Attention Attention please pull on your oxygen mask when it drops and place it firmly over your mouth and breathe calmly.
I was shocked and everyone that I could see looked shocked. It was the announcement that you never want to hear when on an aeroplane. About minutes later another announcement that it was an error and a wrong button had been pushed. It certainly was the wrong button to push. Arbitrary singling out of passengers for baggage weight violations when majority of carry-on bags weren't to regulation for most passengers.
Exorbitant fees for checking bags at gate. Baby on board was crying non-stop for 10 hours Water was not provided to passengers Flight attendants services was bad. Was looking for a last minute affordable flight to Australia.
Jetstar fit the bill. Legroom extremely tight for 6'4" passenger. While I am OK with the concept of bring your own food or buy on board, I think at least water should be offered on a 10 hr flight. Through the course of the kayak purchase process, there was never the option to pay for checked bags. With Jetstar, this means paying double later. Better to book through Jetstar direct once you have the flight details. Need to purchase ahead of time. TV screen did not work. Appreciated check in staff who professionally answered our requests re routine steps to process check in.
Base price for flight was insanely cheap, booked six months in advance. Even anticipating this, it still cost double what I was expecting; must have been the difference between advance payment and day-of rates, but the degree of difference in cost left me feeling swindled. Some policies were not made clear before I arrived to check in.
No skateboards as a carry-on. The flight left late. It just made it to landing in Sydney before an electrical storm shut down the airport. If the flight had left on Tim e it would have made it to Sydney before the shut down. We spent 3 hours in the plane on the Sydney tarmac. Too late to download app once on plane so stuck for hours without entertainment on a long flight.
They wanted to charge for most everything. First class was not as good as economy on other airlines. I have no idea why anyone would select United on purpose. I know I will not pick them again Crew on flight was very nice. Plane has a lot of space for legs and comfortable seats. The organization was a big mess - so poor that we reached the hotel only at am while we had to wake up at 4ish am to be at the airport again by 5am. Sleeping did not disturb me and happy to miss meal. So polite was the crew I wish I could fly Qantas all the time. Food and entertainment were great.
Enough space to be comfortable. Crew was nice and attentive. Boarding is very haphazard, not according to seat numbers, no pre boarding for small babies. Flight attendant spilled juice on me, very unprofessional. Don't expect Emirates, but with Jetstar you get exactly what you pay for. Easy, cheap way to travel to AU. I would recommend to anyone. Come on guys, don't skimp on janitorial services.
No food included whatsoever, not even coffee or tea. My seatmate and I commented at the same time, "where's the extra leg room we paid more for? You have to pay for food and drinks- nothing for free Boarding was chaos- no organization- just everyone pushing their way on. Worried about security as no one at any point checked my ID or passport Line up for baggage drop off took half an hour- they need more staff working.
Virgin all the way! Exit row seats made for a much more comfortable flight. Did not pay for food or entertainment. Everything else went very well.
I arrived early and Jetstar accomodated me with getting an earlier flight. Jetstar cancelled our flight home and rebooked us on a flight 14 hours later. We spent 6 hours at the airport before they announced this flight was also cancelled. They put us on another flight scheduled for 1. Will not consider flying Jetstar again for an international flight. I honestly can't think of a single thing I liked about this flight, but if pressed, perhaps I enjoyed the staff in Honolulu during check in.
The rest was horrible. This airline is truly the Greyhound of the sky. There was an absurd amount of families on this flight with really young screaming, ill-behaved children and their indifferent parents. The flight attendants were equally indifferent and unhelpful. You get absolutely nothing for free - everything cost - food, blankets, pillows, etc. AND when water was requested, it was a small, mouthwash size cup with a note, that "we charge for water.
Probably one of the worst experiences in the air ever. I won't be back. This flight back home, before liftoff, a flight attendant strolled by and let me know about it and how to use it.
Overall, extremely pleased with the entire flight and experience. Appreciated check in staff who professionally answered our requests re routine steps to process check in. Food okay, flight delayed both ways, seating uncomfortable in economy. Food was surprisingly good and generous. Also nice to have snacks and small soft drinks available in the back at any time. The entertainment system had a good collection of movies.
Seats should have a USB port for charging devices. Podcast selection was poor on the entertainment system and usually only had one or two episodes.
Because podcasts are often free or can be licensed cheaply and require little storage, system should have last 20 episodes of the best podcasts. I missed my flight. My flight from Melbourne with Qantas was delayed. I received an express connection ticket to go through Immigration, customs, etcetera. I ran, all for nothing. I should have known better, for sure. But this tickets shouldn't be offered, they give the impression that you can make it.
And the staff in Melbourne, and the crew on the plane, all were extremely reassuring. I got to the gate of Alaska Airlines, the people there could only offer me a ticket two days later. And basically they said it was Qantas fault. Having almost no time and no clear way to communicate with Qantas the number is useless , I had to book and pay a new ticket. Now I am going to try to contact Qantas for reimbursement but I am not optimistic.
In summary, do not buy these types of tickets "in collaboration" with two companies. Especially if you make the connection in the US. It is a scam. And even if you have 3 or 4 hours and there is a delay, you are basically on your own, and the companies give the responsibilities to each other. You have to pay for food and drinks- nothing for free Boarding was chaos- no organization- just everyone pushing their way on. Worried about security as no one at any point checked my ID or passport Line up for baggage drop off took half an hour- they need more staff working.
The stewards are awful. The food is awful and expensive. They offer no fruit or veg. It's a terrible rip off. They don't provide water readily even on a 10 hour flight. I asked to call the office to pay over the phone. The food is average. Could be much better. Eg, serve eggs like omelette for Breakfast.
Don't expect Emirates, but with Jetstar you get exactly what you pay for. We had to wait in the airport for hours for it arrive on the next flight. Flight from Christchurch to Sydney was very smooth and no problems at all. In other cabins the noise wasn't as bad, probably better insulated? Seats were very tight. Lots of movies and TV to watch. It was the announcement that you never want to hear when on an aeroplane.
Flew JAL 2 yrs ago too. Food was not good. Also , toilets could be cleaner. Flight was 4 hours late. We had even received notices by email the flight would depart on time, just 30 minutes before. Not once did any staff or flight crew apologize for the delay. Also they had to reshuffle passengers because the weight was off. Hidden fees for baggage are exceptionally high and are structured to take advantage of first-time users who are not aware of Jetstar's baggage policies. This after they were "nice enough" to round the weight down a bit. The only way I would fly Jetstar again is for a short-haul, no-checked-baggage flight.
Base price for flight was insanely cheap, booked six months in advance. Even anticipating this, it still cost double what I was expecting; must have been the difference between advance payment and day-of rates, but the degree of difference in cost left me feeling swindled.
Boarding is very haphazard, not according to seat numbers, no pre boarding for small babies. Flight attendant spilled juice on me, very unprofessional. For such a long trip-impossible to be comfortable in economy. Meals were tasty and drinks were great. After we finally got checked in after standing in line 1.
The flight operated- a plus when compared to my two previous JetStar bookings. I organization of staff who had told us at "we would be fine" in the line we were in- only to be hurried to the "final check in desk" and have the staff there tell us to get back in line. You don't get food unless you prepaid on line or are willing to pay, otherwise they ignore you, entertainments cost 10 bucks with limited options. Love Qantas, hate Jetstar. A little tight seats. The attendents were slow to clean up after meals. Not a lot to like. Some flight attendants were nice. Others not so much. Filthy toilets at the beginning of the flight.
The walls stained with something dripping. Paint peeling in toilet. No room at all.
The seats were much too close together for any comfort. Quite frankly, I booked with Qantas because I heard it was a good airline and comfortable. If I wanted to ride AA, I would have booked them. Now I have to wait for it to be delivered We compile tonnes of data for you Our service lets you quickly and easily compare results from hundreds of travel sites at once.
