Building 14 is in the middle so its not far from anything and is quiet. Be aware that this resort honors request based on availability even though you made reservations ahead of time. So if you arrive late in the evening you may not get what you requested. If you are a club member you will have your requested honored. There are normally activities during the day and also a dedicated kids club at hte resort, however the specific amount of activities on a given day would be subject to change due to occupany levels, guest interest, and may other factors. They had a kids club which we didn't use as our kids are 15, 20 and They seemed to be primarily for the younger age The activities on the property as a whole were not really good.
Each day they had the same Only if they're age 4 or up. They have a kids club for them that comes with your all inclusive. I realize wireless internet is available for a fee. Are the rooms equipped with wired internet access? The resort advertises that there is wireless internet available in certain public areas and in the internet cafe. I didn't even bring my laptop! I really wanted this time to be purely for vacation. But brother-in-law of mine did have his and he accessed the net through wireless in the lobby. I didn't ask him if he could get online in his room.
Hope that helps. No internet is only available in the lobby which is a real hike from the beach. A good 10 minute walk at a brisk pace. No it is not There is no internet in the rooms at all. You can only get access to a wireless network for a fee in the lobby area. They also have an internet cafe with desktop computers. Only the Lobby has wireless and you pay for it by the minute. It's not very much. Since CheapCaribbean.
The spa offers Massages, facials, jacuzzis, and Turkish baths are just a handful of the services at our sensational spa. To further enhance the spa experience, two palm-thatched gazebos were constructed on the beach exclusively for massages and treatments. The resort will have a spa menu--if they cannot send it to you, they may be able to put you in contact with a representative who can give you a price range. You can pretty much walk to all the areas in Playacar, and that includes the golf course.
I didn't look into the prices, but you could contact the resort directly. I sent emails twice before our trip and received an response fairly quick. We inquired about golf, nearest one was 30 minutes away and roughly dollars per person! We recommend contacting the resort directly for information regarding food allergies and specialty menus that may be available. You may reach them via email at: I have pretty severe nut allergies and always carry 2 epi pens. There are nuts served and in some dishes but I was able to easily avoid them. I however, did not see a food allergy menu.
I would email or call the resort. Just returned and the menu is very standard without exceptions. Food is mainly on a buffet so there is no guarantee. The restaurants with reservations have menu's however nothing special for food allergies or vegetarians. No alternative menu. You need to make it aware to your server with every meal and snack who will then have you speak directly with the chef. Having him wear a lanyard in Spanish declaring the fatal allergy will help. Like the US liked to garnish with green things like parsley and chives, this resort likes to garnish with nuts. The chef is very kind, and easy to talk to.
I would bring a printed description in Spanish to show at every meal and he will help you make choices at buffet etc, or will prepare special meals for your son. All inclusive 5 answers. All inclusive would mean that all of your food and drinks alcoholic and non-alcoholic are included in your package price. They have sodas and water, too! They filter the water in the restaurants. Food is included in the price. Each buffet has its own hours, but you'll find something to eat somewhere at almost any hour of day or night.
Vin ordinaire flows freely at lunch and supper. Bar drinks are included in the price unless you specify a premium brand. If you specify Kahlua, you have to pay for it. If you ask for coffee liquer, it's free, and it will usually be Kahlua! Beer may be had at any bar, but you'll also find free beer in the refrigerator in your room. It does indeed! And lots of it!!!
This resort does not have any heated pools. Pool is not heated as general temperatures are normally in the 80's Fahrenheit. On any warm Sunny Caribbean day, the pool is warm enough to be refreshing.
I have traveled here several times and never found the pool to be cold. Speacial restaurants 5 answers. I understand we can make reservations to 3 of the several specialty restaurants. I was wondering if you could recommend which ones I should choose. We are though, able to advise that we have never received any negative reviews of the specialty restaurants from other CheapCaribbean.
I recommend making the reservations right after you check in. They fill up quickly. We ate at the Italian, steakhouse and Mexican restaurants. They were all good. My husband had the rib eye and I had the tenderloin at the steakhouse. The rib eye was thin. I would recommend the tenderloin. I recommend the steakhouse. Very tender and juicy steaks and great quality, you will not be disappointed.
Japanese, Mediterranean, and steakhouse!!! We made reservations at the Japanese Hibachi 2 and the Steak restaurant 1. The other restaurants are good but we felt these were the best! Is the hairdryer attached to the wall or can I plug it in anywhere within the room? Its difficult to dry my hair while my husband takes a steamy hot shower and also watch my 2 year old. I prefer to have a hairdryer thats mobile.
If not, I will plan to bring my own. The hairdryer is attached to the wall in most resorts. Please contact the resort directly for more information at https: Hair drier is plugged in in bathroom, but can be moved to bedroom. I think you can plug it in anywhere. The electricity is the same as ours in the USA. What is the distance from this resort to Playa Del Carmen 5th ave? It is about a 10 minute drive to 5th Avenue.
Also there are taxis at the shopping area which can take you back, and they are plentiful. From the front desk, it takes about 8 minutes to walk to the small center of Playacar, and about 30 minutes to walk to the gate at PDC. Likely would take another 3 - 4 minutes to get from gate to 5th Ave. Taxis cut the time dramatically, and are reasonable if you really don't want to walk.
Thinking a taxi might take minutes from the reception area.. A short cab ride. Too long for an enjoyable walk. It took us about 25 minutes to walk. Very safe area. This resort is located 30 miles from the airport, which is about a 45 min drive. If booking through CheapCaribbean. We used USA transfers. We were the only ones in the van which i requested. It takes about 45 minutes. I think we paid dollars from the airport.
A straight shot might be about 45 minutes.. Some of that time is just getting through the playacar neighborhood. You can get packages through CheapCarribbean.. All depends on your level of comfort in "winging it" or having a more private transport mode, and the associated prices for all the options. You can always pay a little extra and get private transfers but we never have. Pricing for amenities such as WIFI access is always subject to change. Most resorts throughout the Caribbean and Mexico do accept US currency.
However, for specific questions regarding this inquiry, we do suggest contacting the resort directly as they would be best to assist. The email address from the resort's website to contact them directly is rrpptucque iberostar. I think we paid As of our last visit just returned! It cuts out a bit when we were at the pool but in the lobby and rooms it is fantastic. Is this a Gated Community? This resort is located in a gated community. There is a gate with security personnel and they will check ID of the cab driver or transfer. It is in a very nice neighborhood, and you will feel safe there.
Yes, gated with a guard. We did walk about 5 minutes down the street to a shopping plaza and had Starbucks The walk was nice, safe, no one approached us. We shopped and went back to the resort. The community of Playacar is gated, and then there is a gate and guard at each of the resorts.
Yes, very gated. You will be perfectly safe. We didn't venture out but met people who had and they felt totally safe in town. The taxis and bus drivers have to leave their ID with the guards while within playacar and they seem to keep track somewhat of their guests. We have walked around playacar and have never felt unsafe. Is liquor included or just beer and wine?
Liquor is included in the all inclusive price, however, there may be an additional cost for top shelf liquor. All liquor included but may not have top shelf brands. Liquor is included. Waiters like to push tequilla. Liquor, wine and beer - limited to a certain number of brands. The only beer they have is XX, blonde and amber. The best whisky they have is JW Red Label - nothing better than that. Is it possible to check in earlier than 3p. If you would like to check in before 3: You can check in earlier than 3PM IF your room has been cleaned and ready.
We had to wait until then, but they stored our luggage and gave us a wristband so that we could eat and drink when we arrived. I didn't arrive too much earlier than 3 pm, but was able to get a room at 2: The issue I think has to do with house keeping and whether the type of room you requested is clean and ready when you arrive.
The some times have rooms early but if not they will watch luggage you can lock up purses and go join all the fun. We arrived at noon and our room was ready. This resort has 3 bars on site that are open until midnight or later and also offers nightly entertainment. This resort is about ten minutes away from town. The Disco is open late but not many people there during our week. Senor Frogs is in town but I wouldn't recommend it at night! The resort has nightly entertainment but I wouldn't call it a nightclub atmosphere. Playa del Carmen's 5th Avenue has some nightlife.
Taxi is US dollars one way. Can you make payments on the cost and just have it paid fulley by a certain time before the trip? CheapCaribbean does offer our customers a deposit program. Yes, CheapCaribbean accepts a down payment and then final payment a couple weeks before the trip. It will give you the option upon check out and will also show you the policy.
Please call our sales department at for pricing. Yes, but you have to contact property direct, or their may be an option through Cheapcaribbean. Please contact the resort directly as the resorts name brand liquors change on a weekly basis.
Just about everything you can think of. The shops in town have tons as well. Mostly local Mexican brands however they do have top shelf in some bars if you request it. Are ajoining rooms available? Adjoining rooms are not available at this resort. They have nightly shows 9: From You can use all the facilities at either side of the hotel. Not sure about ajoining rooms - we had an ocean view with King. I would call and speak with them - most speak great English. What is the distance to Playa del Carmen?
I'm confused -- the location on the information page says the resort is only 5 minutes from Playa, but when answering a question on the Q and A page, CheapCaribbean says the distance to Playa is 20 minutes. The correct answer is very important to me. It is approximately a 20 minute drive and an hour walk to Playa Del Carmen. It takes at least 30 minutes one way. I did not walk there, but we took a cab.
I would not suggest walking, it would probably take too long. The resort is in playacar which is a guarded community in playa del carmen. The resort is about 30 miles from the airport. Dinner Reservation policy? It says " night stays: Guests receive two guaranteed reservations. Please contact the resort directly at rrpptucque iberostar. Yes, two guaranteed reservations to the restaurants of your choice.
However, for other reservations you can go to the reservation desk each day to see if the other restaurants have any openings. I would recommend to do this first thing every morning 9 am. We ate at 2 of them with no problems we stayed 5 nights , but I spoke with another couple who ate at all the specialty restaurants.
I believe you can make as many as you want, they did not restrict this policy while we were there. We were able to make two reservations and got decent times, 6: Jesus called his manager and got us a third reservation, but it was at 9: So the additional reservTions are sketchy, but worth a try. Don't even bother with the Mexican.
My recommendation is the Japenese restaurant and I heard the Mediterranean one was good too. Have a blast! Hope this helps. We stayed 4 days and 3 nights and though they did say we only got one night of fine dining, we were allowed to book every night. They only let us book the first two nights, then we had to go back in the morning to book another night, they were very nice about it. This resort has about 3 bars on site, offers nightly entertainment, and is located just a few minutes away from the town of Playa del Carmen, where many travelers go to enjoy the nightlife. The hotel has different shows every night that pretty good playa de carmen has bars and restaurants all over the place on 5th ave it's very safe police all over the place and there is always a ton of people there plus if you want to party there are places to go all night long till the sun comes up.
They have a different show every night at the resort which repeats weekly, not sure how often they change them. Playa Del Carmen is very safe at night to shop, eat and drink, well we have never had any bad experiences. Do we need to bring something to prove we were just married? Most resorts throughout the Caribbean and Mexico require a copy of the marriage certificate. However, for further information regarding this specific resort, we do suggest contacting the resort directly. My wife and I brought out marriage license just to be safe. I would recommend it.
What is the distance between the airport and how much is the cab ride? It can be a pricey cab ride, so we recommend including transportation in your vacation package. For details, please call us at 1. Distance is 30 miles and we used Amstar transfer. The airport is approximately minutes from the resort.
We did not take a cab, because we had transfers included in our travel package. They say it is about minutes, we took amstar, shared ride, only one drop off before us. It took about 40 minutes. Way cheaper then a cab thee and back. If you share a ride, a little longer as this resort is on the south side of Playa del Carmen. I highly recommend private transfer as it was cheaper than shared anyway.
You may add transportation to your package when you book either online or with one of our agents. For further information, please call one of our Beach Experts at 1.
I am not sure which package you have in question, but my trip was completely arranged by CheapCaribbean to include round trip transportation. That depends on what package you get. You need to make sure your package includes a "transfer" package. Usually those are separately priced as there are different plans. They had great reviews. Iberostar tucan activities 3 answers. Are there catamarans that you can be taken out on?
Is it a good location for seeing sunsets? Any casinos nearby? There are all kinds of water activities. I am sure you will find something suitable. The hotel faces the eastern horizon so sunsets aren't visible, BUT, the sunrise was absolutely stunning. I didn't see any casinos nearby, but I am sure there is one somewhere. Yes there are catamarans, the sunset is behind you, not over the ocean. No Casino's nearby that we know of. The last few years, we've mostly been interested in sitting on the beach, but in the past we've taken out the catamarans and the sea kayaks.
You can also borrow snorkeling gear. All these are free. These are not always available at all times if there are high winds or turbulent seas. There are opportunities to also be exposed to scuba diving in the pool free exposure session, but will cost for "real" diving". You can also rent jet-skis from vendors near the beach, and go parasailing and similar activities.. Cocktails and Premium liquior 10 answers.
I see the all inclusive mentions beer and wine but does it also include liquior and cocktails? Yes, local cocktails are included as well. You can always get any drink you would like. Yes it includes everything. Be careful though, in the evening there is a girl with a cart near the lobby and restaurants with top notch cigars and liquor which they bill to the room if you try them.

However they do not have rose tequilla. We are not aware of any smoking ban with this property. Typically one can smoke in open air areas. Look for spots with ash trays. Inside lobbies, bars there are tables assigned as smoking or non-smoking. I don't believe you can smoke in the dining areas. You can smoke on the beach, and by the pool. I am a smoker, and have recently switched to e-cigarettes, which I saw many people smoking everywhere.
I also saw others smoking regular cigarettes near the pools and on the grounds. It did not seem to offend anyone, you also have a small balcony attached to your room where you could smoke. Yes, you can smoke in the lobby and on the property except in restaurants. They have ashtrays every where. I do not think you can smoke in the rooms, but the patio or balcony is fine. I am a smoker and there are ashtray large sand filled containers everywhere. There are non smoking areas in the lobby bar and auditorium and also the rooms are nonsmoking but can smoke on the balconies.
Yes, mixed drinks are included as well.
There may be an additional charge for premium alcohol. You will have to check with the resort for further details. There is only one beer, Dos XX. They have wine and mixed drinks but they are terrible. Mixed drinks are included with your stay. There is a menu of fancy drinks at each bar.
Mixed drinks are included. The only drinks that I saw prices on were the wines that you can purchase with dinner. They also have the house wines that are always included. Yes, everything is included, the mixed drinks were a bit weak, but you can ask to make it strong and they will. House wine was good, beer was fine and bottle beer was bottled beer lol They supply you with unlimited bottled water, juice, iced tea and bottled beer in the room. Nightlife advice 2 answers. How is it here? I know they share most with the quetzal sp side so, is the disco bar the same or are there two different ones?
If they are different can I go to either one and what's the walking distance? I am looking for a resort with a great beach and great nightlife so any advice would be awesome! This did not bother me, but it is not a fancy "luxury" resort, so people with extremely high standards or expensive taste might want to stay elsewhere. Skip to main content.
