Sunday, February 10, through Saturday, February 16, Challenging on behalf of the products for arts and crafts- having to suggest a different method of creating a project or suggesting different materials, giving opinions on products. Unique on behalf of having different experiences everyday due to new products, new placements for products, new customers, workers, and delegating it all is a unique and humbling experience.
Definitely fun when trying out new products to ensure to have a well rounded and honest opinion about a product for a creative guest. Fun place to work, and fellow employees are nice. Although the wages are low, Michaels is a great place to work if you need a flexible schedule. The managers at my location are great to work with, and they are fair. The hardest part is definitely recovery. Sometimes people are messy. The most enjoyable part of working there, for me, is the interaction with customers who are regulars.
You create a rapport with them, and they appreciate it. Words can't even describe it. Worked here some time ago now, but may still apply No benefits other than pretty amazing discounts on items and classes.
I only noticed this much too late to do anything about it. Constant reminder of expectations and rewards numbers Which also resulted in many rude even violent customers towards me when asked if they were a rewards member. Understandable, but corporate needs to change this rule as it creates so much stress in the job. The only thing that kept me here was my co-workers and management. They are all so friendly and caring and I don't blame any at the Conway store for anything I went through during my time there.
A great place to work to help others display their craft choices and abilities. This job was face paced especially during holidays. I enjoyed helping guest find what they were searching for as well as helping out with available classes offered. Bad workplace! No career advancement! No job security! Was forced to quit due to assistant manger at the time.
Promoted my ex-wife to a management position to apply company policy that a spouse could not be the manager of the other. That's a regular employee. But did not quit out of my own free will. And actually there was a BIG miscommunication that I was fired. But when I applied for Unemployment benefits.
They submitted a document that I quit. Which wasn't true. So I was short handed in the end. And I was left without a job or income. NO job security, harrassment, no promotion, no career advancement. Great as a temporary job. Managment staff is great but hourly employees don't receive much time to earn a living. Shifts are flexible but hours have been cut entirely. Co-workers are friendly as well. Fun hardworking environment. I learned a lot about efficiency, time management and teamwork.
Our hardest days were trucks nights but with dedication and hard work from all members we got the job done each time while being on time.
